Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

To tap the Chinese market Skoda's Fabia seen testing in China.
Quote:
Most striking design element is the sharp crease over the whole side of the new Fabia, making for a much stronger stance. In China the Fabia will be available with 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI four-cylinder petrol engines

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Skoda teases the Next Gen Fabia due to be revealed internationally this month end.
The color is also new, probably Race Blue, which is borrowed from the Octavia range.

Skoda India has not yet released plans for this New Gen Fabia and would take longer since the engines are of the MQB platform.

The all-new model is expected to be based on the same platform as the outgoing Mk2, but powered by MQB-sourced engines.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Next generation Fabia seems to be a looker like the outgoing Rapid in EU (not the Indian Rapid). I don't know why Indian Rapid got Fabia like headlamps.

IMO the only design element, in the present generation Fabia and the Indian Rapid, which does not go well with the rest of the car is the headlamp. Good to see that head lamp will be gone for good, with the future facelift of Indian Rapid and the upcoming Fabia.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Skoda releases 2 more pics of the Fabia in race blue.

The latest teasers, for the new Fabia that will debut at the 2014 Paris motor show in October – give a little more away about how the cars side panels will look.

Gone are the flattened, rounded surfaces of its predecessor – strong character lines run from the headlight towards the rear of the car. Sculpted wheel-arches add some muscle, while colour-coded door handles and side mirrors with integrated indicators add a little extra flair.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Doesn't give me the impression of being an all new car. Looks like a boxy version of the earlier Fabia, and its going to be even more apparent in the cheaper versions without those projectors and bling!

It's all new and is based on the MQB platform like the Audi A3 and Octavia. Should be interesting as the new MQB platform Polo is some time away.

Fully agreed.

What I meant was - looking at the final version of the 'new' car, I dont get this feeling that I am looking at an all new version. Instead, I get this feeling that the older versions has facelifted to become a bit boxier now. VW always stick to the family look for all its cars, but somehow this facelift lacks freshness IMO. (Laura -> Octavia, for example, looked fresh and all new- even though family looks were retained)

The striking difference is the front end. But remove those nice projector headlamps and put ordinary lamps like we would see in India (on the popular lower end versions) - it wont really stand out as a 'new car'.

That said - looking forward to the new Rapid.

I somehow feel the MQB platform, designed to be competitive with even the Passat, TT etc - could only prove to be brilliant in the lower end of the segment.

Are you sure it is based on the MQB platform?, I thought it was based on the current PQ platform itself. The article too says PQ platform

Fabia is based on the latest version of the VW 's PQ26 platform, first used on this year’s revamped VW Polo .
The newly re-engineered platform has been modified to accept the VW Group’s latest range of engines and transmissions as well as the most up-to-date safety and infotainment kit.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Front end could have been slightly better. Feels like it lacks the perfection of Octavia's front end. Head lamps, part of front bumper surrounding the grille and fogs have some unnecessary sharp and pointed bits which could have been avoided. Love the roof design though, which stands out. People who wanna customize would love it.

However, unless seen in flesh, can't comment much on overall looks. I feel Skodas look better in real than in pictures.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Looks good on the whole, better than the old fabia. I like the side profile and rear. Hope this one is not going to be another bait for poor customers.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Here is the all-new 2015 Skoda Fabia, caught almost completely undisguised by the guys at Carscoops.

Quote:
From the photos, the new model seems to be a little bit wider and lower with a slightly longer wheelbase over the outgoing Fabia to help with interior space.

While it was initially thought that the new Fabia would employ the VW Group's lighter MQB modular platform, we now hear that Skoda opted to build the sub-compact model on a revised version of the current car's architecture to reduce costs and for scales of economy as it's shared with the new Rapid.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

New information on the platform on which the new Fabia is based.

Quote:
The new Skoda Fabia uses 50% of MQB modules and approximately 40% of improved second generation platform (aka PQ26), while the remaining 10% are transferred PQ25 parts from second generation of Fabia.

Re: Next-generation Skoda Fabia caught testing

Looks too boxy , the current gen looks better than this.
But based on the Pictures, looks a wee bit longer than the current gen or maybe I'm just hallucinating.
