After the new X5 (X15) reveal it was evident a new model of the X6 would be under works & here we are with the 1st spy shots of the next gen F16 X6;







From the 1st spy shots one can easily make out the new family look of headlights meet grilles, larger kidney grilles & more forward leaning front fascia.

Hi all, As per reports from Motor Authority the next generation of BMW's X5 M and X6 M performance SUVs are currently in the works and should make their debut by the end of the year, meaning we could see them arrive as 2015 models. While the prototypes for the new X5 M have been seen earlier, this is the first time that we all are seeing a prototype for the new X6 M.

We all can make out that this is the M version of the new X6 because of the aggressive front bumper, which features larger intakes and a much wider air dam than those found on prototypes for the regular model. We can also see thicker side skirts, a subtle rear spoiler and M-style quad-exhaust tips.

The current X6 M is a beast. A 555-horsepower, twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 beast. Will that monstrous power-plant carry forward, or can BMW improve on the formula is yet to be seen. It is suspected the basic drive-train will remain the same, although tweaked to deliver slightly more power and torque, as well as improved economy.

It is likely that the new X6M's weight is reduced through the use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, and we could see some fuel-saving measures such as an engine stop-start system employed. A more fuel-efficient dual-clutch transmission may also end up replacing the automatic found in the current model.

Inside one can expect to see the usual array of M goodies like carbon fiber and Alcantara trim, special badging and electronic gizmos such as adjustable steering and suspension settings. The standard wheels should be 20-inch light alloys.

The all-new BMW X6 is likely to head for production at BMW‘s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina (USA) mid next year. The BMW X6 M has been an ultra-niche vehicle that has proven surprisingly popular with owners worldwide. It remains a niche vehicle in our market with BMW selling just 326 X6s in Australia last year. The twin-turbo V8 engine will likely push the current car’s 408kW of power and 680Nm of torque higher, while bringing the 13.9L/100km of fuel usage down. BMW Australia will take the second-generation X6 when it becomes available for international export late next year.
