2014 Range Rover Evoque Upgraded Link to News Section
Tata Motors owned British luxury SUV marque Land Rover, has upgraded its hot selling Evoque crossover for the 2014 model year. The major mechanical upgrade for the crossover involves the replacement of the 6 speed ZF automatic gearbox with a 9 speed unit from the same German transmission vendor. The 9 speed automatic gearbox will be used on the 2 liter turbo petrol and the 2.2 liter turbo diesel engines of the Evoque.
Range Rover claims that the additional cog in the 9 speed gearbox boosts fuel efficiency of the crossover by over 10%, apart from cutting tail pipe emissions by about 10%. Land Rover also offers the Active Driveline feature as an option, on the all wheel drive models of the Evoque Crossover. This feature allows the 2014 Evoque to drive by means of the front wheels at speeds of over 35 Kph, with the crossover switching back to the all wheel drive mode if any loss in grip is detected.
This feature will also boost fuel efficiency of the all wheel drive models of the 2014 Evoque. A brake-based torque vectoring system is available as standard on the 2014 Evoque, with this system's benefit aimed at reducing under steer of the crossover. Other new features on the Evoque include park assist, a water wading sensor, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition. On the cosmetics front, the 2014 Evoque shows minimal changes.
New paint finishes, 4 new alloy wheel designs and new Land Rover badging are the changes on the outside of the crossover. The Evoque sold internationally, is expected to be replaced by the 2014 model by the end of this year. Expect the 2014 Evoque to arrive into India next year, once Land Rover clears out existing orders for the current version of the crossover. The Evoque sold in India is imported through the completely built unit (CBU) route.
In India, the crossover is available with a 2 liter turbo petrol engine outputting 237 Bhp-340 Nm and a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine good for 188 Bhp-420 Nm. These engines are expected to remain unchanged in the 2014 model of the crossover, while the new 9 speed automatic gearbox will be the major addition. The Evoque sold in India is available with the all wheel drive layout as standard even as Land Rover does offer the crossover with a front wheel drive layout and a lower powered 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine internationally.
