The test mules headlights have the same wave patter seen on the pre-facelift Audi A4 sedan, seems more like a camouflaging technique. But Audi is expected to offer the latest Matrix LED system which we'll see on the A8 in a few days.

Audi is suppose to use aluminum and carbon reinforced plastic to reduce as much as 350 kilograms off the current model's hefty body.

Expected to be revealed late in 2014 :thumbs up

Next gen Audi Q7 delayed for ‘emergency redesign’. (pic in above post)

The next generation Audi Q7 has been delayed due to an “emergency redesign”. It is believed that the proposed design for the new Q7 was described as “too brutal and ostentatious” and was not pleasing to the management.
This could have also been one of the reasons why Audi Head, Wolfgang Dürheimer, was let go.
Apart from causing a delay in the launch, the company will have to spend another USD 260 million for the redesign.

To that end, Audi is making quick work of the new Q7, as these spy photos show. The pixelated images show off the Audi Q7′s front end, which sports Audi’s signature LED running lights though not the new A8′s Matrix LEDs[,flanking Audi’s new shield-shaped grille. Like the headlights, we expect that grille to sport treatment similar to the new Q3, rather than the Allroad. (Spy pic as in the above post)

Wasn't the sole purpose of the Q7 to be "too brutal and ostentatious"? Isn't the current gen already one? Bollywood loves this brute for just that! It's a monster amongst your plain-jane SUV's and that's what makes the Q7 and the celebrities stand out - exactly what they want.

If they're toning down the design element of the upcoming Q7 to be more subdued, I think Audi is missing the point! This bad boy needs to stay bad.

Audi India considering RS 7, next gen Q7 by late 2014.

New Audi Q7 coming in 2015.

Q7 will be based on. Derived from the car-based MLB architecture, it will spawn both the 2015 Q7 and a Bentley SUV due in 2016.

The new platform will help Audi trim close to 300kg from the Q7’s kerb weight. The weight savings will come from the use of aluminum and even some composite materials in the vehicle’s construction as well as the use of smaller engines.

In terms of engines, the new Q7 is expected to use the same engines as seen in the new A8 and A6 saloons. A plug-in hybrid is also expected.

The new Audi Q7 will make its debut late next year.

Next-gen Audi Q7 almost ready -

Quote:

Prices are expected to start at around Rs 45.86 lakh and rise to about Rs 66.25 lakh for a top-specification model.

The new Q7 will rival the new Range Rover, VW Touareg and Mercedes-Benz GL-class.

Engine options in the new Audi Q7 will likely mirror the range of diesel units offered in the current model. the new Q7 is 350kg lighter than the current model. The car is thought to use a variation of the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform. The same structure will also be used by the next Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Continental and also the forthcoming Bentley and Lamborghini Urus SUVs, both set to launch in 2016.

Engine options will likely mirror the range of diesel units offered in the current model. This means, the Audi Q7 will get 3.0-litre and 4.2-litre units with outputs varying from 200bhp to 340bhp.

Reports suggest that a hybrid version of the Q7, badged Q7 e-tron, will also be offered by the carmaker. Audi's smaller Q5 SUV already has a hybrid version.

I dont know if the initial images have the new one moving around in entirely different body shells in the interest of camouflaging because if i am not mistaken its giving out a more stationwagon-ish profile than a full blown SUV.

From what i see so far of the shape it does not seem as impressive as the outgoing brute. Hope im proved wrong.

To me it doesn't look like a proper SUV. As someone said its more of a station wagon. Even the current one looks like its been elongated by someone else and not OEM.

Bracing for brickbats, but i have never felt the present Q7 itself as a full blown SUV. stupid:Sure, the front is one brutish locomotive design but the rest of the car? Nah, looked more like a raised elongated stationwagon. So no shock in seeing the next gen Q7 as the same.
But they could have styled the front better. In carrying forward the corporate look, they have lost the unique train like front end. From the rendering looks like a blown up Q5.
Anyways, no doubt this will be a brilliant car and the only one with V8/V12 Tdi ,(except for its cousins ofourse :D)

+1 to that

The Q7 though tagged an SUV, was a mere station wagon design on steroids.

Its very common to not like new gen designs, and trash them for saying they are too futuristic etc. But once the designs grow on you it actually makes sense.

Lets wait for the best :thumbs up

The new Q7 was caught wearing minimal camo and boy it looks boring !http://www.automotorblog.com/2016-au...-caught-shots/

The current Q7 brought with it a wow/butch factor that has kept it at the top for so many years. The new one unfortunately looks too lean and fat free if you know what i mean.
