Skoda's new SUV will be named Kodiak and not Snowman as speculated!

"Snowman" sounds so much cooler and acceptable than "Kodiak". A simple google search throws up the meaning as "island" and is infact a name of an island in Alaska. Where are we heading with respect to automobile nomenclatures - Creta, Mahindra with their O obsession, Tata Zica. Where are all those names like the Punto, Linea, Yeti, Zen, Sierra, Astra.

Guess then it's time to rename the thread.

I like the name Kodiak. I also like the tyres and wheels on the rendering. But I am sure the production models will have smaller wheels and tyres.
Personally I'd like the 5 seater version as it will be easier in the city.
But then, Im not yet ready to dump my present Yeti in favour of something else.

Off topic: I really wish that GM/ Subaru would relaunch the Forester and bring it to India.

Skoda will be showcasing the VisionS at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. This VisionS ('S' stands for SUV) shows how the company's future SUV will appear. It is an extension of the VisionC design language, unveiled in 2014.

Its face will wear a wide grill and four tapered, high-set LED headlights. The logo and the vertical struts in the grill are characterized by crystalline elements – Skoda's tribute to the Czech art of crystal-glass design.

Its side profile includes a sharp tornado line which runs the entire length of the body, squared wheel arches, high shoulder line, sloping roof line and a long spoiler. At the rear, the diffuser will house the large exhaust pipes. It also gets a reflector running the width of the rear bumper.

Skoda's upcoming SUV will be significantly larger than the Yeti, measuring 4.7m in length, 1.91m in width and 1.68m in height. Skoda confirms that it will feature 3 rows of seating, offering generous room for 6 passengers. Some weeks ago, we had reported that this SUV might be named Kodiak (link to news article).

I really hope they price it right. The current pricing of the yeti just put me off when I was replacing my old yeti. Skoda's pricing is getting more absurd by the day.
