What appears to be a long wheel base version of the Yeti, is actually the new MQB chassis being tested. Based on the largest version of VAG's MQB platform, this SUV is a derivative of VW's CrossBlue SUV. It will be available in front as well as all-wheel drive options. The SUV is likely to inherit Volkswagen Touareg's off-road capabilities too.

Looks promising to me though this seems like early days and probably Skoda is just testing the chassis / platform.

If Skoda can price this below the Superb and in the 25-30 lacs territory with a Diesel + DSG box + AWD on the 7 seater version then they will surely have a winner on their hands.

I for one am keenly looking at this one and it may just be a toss up between this and the new Superb for me!

Tough days ahead for the new Fortuner with this one, New Endeavour and Chevrolet Trailblazer. Good times for the buyer though

Skoda seven-seat SUV set to be revealed by end of 2015, though it won’t make its global premiere until the Geneva motor show in March next year and would rival for large SUVs, such as the Hyundai's Santa Fe.

The nameplate is yet to be decided.

The family hauler will sit on a similar architecture to the new Superb (picture below) called MQB B. In typical Skoda fashion, it will, in all likelihood, offer class-leading cargo space — like the Superb and Fabia wagon do in their classes — and a full-size spare wheel.

Skoda's high-riding model will use an adaptation of the MQB B platform of the new Superb while the design will reportedly have a few similarities with the upcoming Superb Combi. It will allegedly be 4.6 meters long and as standard it will have five seats but at an additional cost an extra two rear seats will be available, likely tailored only to children.
A front-wheel drive layout is going to be standard on lesser versions whereas the more expensive ones with beefier engines will benefit from an AWD configuration. Expect the SUV to provide class-leading space just like most of the other Skoda models, along with a full-size spare wheel, great towing capacity and "lots of off-road capability

Brands under the Volkswagen group have been expanding their SUV portfolio across the spectrum. Skoda has been working on a new 7 seater SUV itself and according to a recent report, the model could be revealed towards the end of this year.

I don't understand the size either. Yeti is already Q3 / GLA size (latter all being fairly small by any standards). If they're trying to upsize on the Yeti, space wise, it needs to be checking the boxes closer to CRV / Santa Fe or even just shy of Fortuner. Then it can comfortably occupy the 20 - 30 lakh window. If they're putting out 7 seats, I hope they get a size that delivers it in a Santa Fe or Fortuner way (with a little boot space to spare with all 3 rows up) and not in a XUV or Captiva way (3rd row hits the end of the vehicle with zero space leftover).

The Fortuner will continue to dominate this segment I'm very sure. None of these products have what it takes to shake the big T's hold on this segment.

2016 Skoda Snowman 7-Seater Testing in the Alps with Front and Rear Camouflage.

Rumored to debut at the 2016 Paris show, the 7 seater from Skoda is still being tested under the body based on the current Yeti, but the front and now includes new headlights and grille pieces. Skoda engineers have also added considerable width though larger fenders, which could mean the Snowman is as wide as a Touareg.

The mule is also longer than a regular Yeti. The rear doors have been lengthened to give easier access to the third row of seats, located in the trunk, just like on the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The architecture of this model is FWD-based, and there will be entry-level models with only one powered axle. However, the vast majority of configurations will use Haldex 5 couplings to send power to the back.

Yes it is much different from the Cross blue concept.

Cross blue though based on the Octavia's MQB platform it is going to be a much larger & expensive SUV. More like Q7 size for Q5 money.

Likely to be based on VW Group’s good for all MQB platform, the large Skoda SUV will feature a wide range of petrol and diesel engines – most likely a selection of the units offered on the Octavia and Superb
