15-20 I meant as a general guideline (I also meant OTR). To add to it 20L should also have the AWD. In other words around 18-19 OTR for the top end 4x2. And that is just above Terrano top end. Pretty much in line with what you mentioned. I think in Bangalore the top end 110 Terrano is about 17.

Hyundai's compact SUV ix25 set to enter the small SUV market

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...w/36378871.cms

It looks very much like the EcoSport to me. Key points from the news article
1. Based on the i20 platform
2. Expected in 2015
3. 1.6 l petrol motor expected

This segment is indeed getting crowded with no manufacturer ready to let go off a piece of the pie.

Re: Hyundai's compact SUV ix25 set to enter the small SUV market

By first look, looks more of hatch back with rugged look. Happy to see that this segment is being overcrowded which will intense competition and hence consumers may benefit with fair deal. Could be more interesting if price information is known. Hope price is not exorbitant as of duster.

If it is based on i20 then would it be able to meet the "under 4M" category for small cars?
Else, it is going to be cost more and north of Verna pricing (assuming the same set of engine options) which is not a good thing for us.

Some more spy pics of the ix25 have been posted by Chinese website autohome.com.cn, which includes a shot of the fully-lit instrument + central console.

Re: Possible 2015 Hyundai Compact SUV spyshots surface

Coming in at a crucial time and that too with good expectations. Simply because, with Hyundais, we expect a loaded vehicle. A loaded compact X-over would be an ideal competition to Ecosport. And if they can get the volumes and the size/space of the car correct they have a winner. They already have the rest of formula (engine, finish, features etc) worked out.

Handling capabilities with a X-over is something which every one does not look for.

Oh, looks ugly!
They should just bring the original Tucson back (with latest engine, gearbox, etc).

+1 Anand.

This doesn't look like a Duster/Terrano/ES rival.

From the size, it looks like competition to the Fortuner/Captiva/CRv.

Re: Possible 2015 Hyundai Compact SUV spyshots surface

Detailed scoop photos of the production-specific Hyundai ix25 have been leaked by China's Auto iFeng website. The ix25 will start it's sales in China very soon.

The car looks very close to the concept unveiled by Hyundai back in April. It will come with 1.6L and 1.2L petrol engines in China, and is supposed to be loaded with a diesel unit once it's Indian production commences, which seems to be from mid-2015 onwards.

Re: Possible 2015 Hyundai Compact SUV spyshots surface

I have an question here.

Wasn't Ecosport altered for Indian market and got under 4metres whereas the global model is 4010m?

So can we expect something similar with this one sacrificing a bit of the boot? That will get the price significantly down and considering hyndai's position in india it will give them another block-buster.

Asking for too much? I know I am.

If you take a look at the recent offerings, Hyundai doesn't seem to bother about a compromised price. They make sure they load the vehicle like crazy and put a good price to it. In a way, we want manufacturers like them so that we get decent, un-compromised product though it may cost a bit more! I personally prefer vehicles like that.

Agreed!!! but how many manufacturers can you recall who bother about what we(BHPians) like? Numbers is the top priority and my assumption was just based on that. Rest ofcourse we would prefer having the global version.

Re: Possible 2015 Hyundai Compact SUV spyshots surface

As I mentioned earlier too, this vehicle may have all the elements to make it into a good premium compact X-over with no compromise on space. In that case length automatically goes above 4m, and we all the space we need for a good decent 5-seater. Add to it all the features. Hence my assertion it can set up a benchmark in the entry level premium x-over segment.
