The production variant is believed to be looking like the BMW Active Tourer which debuted at the Paris Auto Show last year;



The MPV is expected to have Front Wheel Drive as standard but all-wheel drive could be optional.

BMW is expected to offer a new 3 cyl 1.5L Twin Power Turbo Petrol offering alongside the Diesel

The new 1 series launch in India is approaching (Sept 2013) & as this MPV is based on the 1 series it will be interesting to see if BMW plans to get this MPV to the Indian shores.

Autocar UK reports that the new BMW 1-series GT will offer a choice of wheelbases for five- and seven-seat options. This could go on sale as early as early 2014, as a rival to the Mercedes B-Class.

This apparently will be BMW’s first dedicated front wheel drive model. I personally feel that this really dilute the brand BMW, but apparently they need to cater a whole lot of MPV lovers in China, Russia, US etc.

Though this will be BMW's 1st FWD car we can expect the car to handle well, check this what are they upto;





^ The front wheel drive system on test is with a MINI prototype next to it, in other terms BMW is bench marking MINI for its FWD in the 1GT

Yes, that’s true. I believe (along with the Mini) the complete range of next gen 1-series will be FWD. Who knows, BMW could even come up with a M-performance MPV

Too early to comment on that. But by the looks of it looks more like a B Class rival so we may see it eventually being launched here.
