re: The VW Cross Blue. EDIT: Named Atlas!

Big SUV, seven seats, diesel motor - sounds like a winning formula. Price wise, I assume this will come in at around 50l? Maybe a decent upgrade for Endeavour/Fortuner owners.

re: The VW Cross Blue. EDIT: Named Atlas!

The pricing probably depends on where it will be assembled. I'm assuming 30k to 50k USD pricing for this car between all variants. It is a CUV meant to haul familiar, so I'm also assuming off road ability is low. Endeavor and Fortune are BOF trucks. I think some publications had a test drive of the vehicle in the USA already. If I remember right there maybe an 8 seat option to compete with the pilot and highlander.

With diminishing Skoda dealerships, I think few guys would be missing the Kodiaq when it came, but not any longer. This VW should solve things.

re: The VW Cross Blue. EDIT: Named Atlas!

Finally the cross blue concept gets a name. To be called Atlas!
The name also breaks with VW’s convention of assigning its crossover models names beginning with the letter “T” like the Tiguan and Touareg before it

The name has been a closely guarded secret ever since the vehicle was previewed by the CrossBlue concept at the 2013 Detroit auto show. VW plans to reveal the Atlas -- a seven-passenger, three-row crossover to be built in Chattanooga -- on Oct. 27 at a media event in Santa Monica, Calif.

Re: The VW Cross Blue. EDIT: Named Atlas!

VW unveils its flagship 7 seat SUV- Atlas, for NA.

The Volkswagen Atlas will be on display at the LA Auto Show beginning November 18th

Measuring in at 198.3 inches long, 77.9 inches wide, and 69.6 inches high, the new Atlas is bigger than the aging Toureg (188.8/76.4/67.3), and even longer still than the new Honda Pilot (194.5/78.6/69.8). Naturally, all this added bigness translates to a more spacious interior.
Quote:
Riding on a revised version of Volkwagen’s signature MQB architecture, the new SUV utilizes a 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine with an output of 238 horsepower (177 kilowatts). Looking for something a bit more spritely? The now 11-year-old 3.6-liter VR6 engine remains an option, and produces 280 horsepower (208 kilowatts).

Power for both engines is routed through a more efficient eight-speed automatic transmission, and is transferred to either the front wheels when equipped with the 2.0-liter TSI, or all four wheels, courtesy of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, when optioned with the 3.6-liter VR6. When equipped with the 4Motion all-wheel drive, the system allows for a number of different selectable driving modes for various road conditions.

Re: The VW Cross Blue. EDIT: Named Atlas!

Are you sure it is not going to be placed above the VW Toureg? The article say VW Tiguan. Tiguan is much smaller compared to the Toureg

the range-topping SEL Premium trim will be priced from near $48,000. At this stage, VW has yet to decide where it’ll price the R-Line Atlas

it will perfectly position the Atlas to go head-to-head with the likes of the Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Sante Fe, Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer and GMC Acadia all of which start from around $30,000 and can top out near the $50,000 mark

Volkswagen Atlas - great potential for Indian Market

Volkswagen has recently launched its largest SUV in US/Canada market based on Q7, and it is a huge leap forward. Its extremely comfortable & spacious, and has state of the art technology. The pricing is quite reasonable - starting from $30K in US and $35K in Canada, which means, if they bring this product to India, it could be priced around 30-40 lakh range. Volkswagen has been struggling in India with Tiguan sales below 100 per month. Here is 1 product which, if priced well, can really beat Fortuner & Endeavour in most departments and challenge Toyota Prado.

Here is one of the reviews of the SUV:

Of Tiguan is in ~30L price range, how come this much bigger vehicle can be priced so close to it? USA prices differ a lot from Indian market.

I just saw one here in New York and it has a character for sure.

I believe, if they launch this in India, it would be in the mid 40s. Also, just like what happened to Passat; Indians always prefer the Audi badge over VW. They are better off not bringing this to India.
