Just came across this picture on Facebook, which Autoblog had shared an hour ago. This is in all probability the new RR Sport, it has lost a little of it's character, IMO.

The wheels are similar to the ones offered on the Evoque abroad. Personally not a huge fan of the looks.

Yes Vikram true, too much Evoque'ish but the 'gills' on the side, the slope of the roof, the headlight shape(a bit) and the tail light shape(even this a bit)
are the things I could point out which are different from the Evoque.

Frankly this will make the EVOQUE sell more, as people who wouldnt understand the RR models would find it same and would not want to spend the extra for the SPORT.

Good question! Another picture doing the rounds has a dude standing next to the SUV with an Llumar tool kit. We can only presume the 2014 Sport visited this shop to get sunfilm fitted (common practice with pre-launch cars).

Doesn't look as immaculate as one expects a show car to be prior to launch. The look is a lot softer than on the current RR Sport. Yep it would no doubt be better but retaining a bit more of the earlier character and a bit less of the evoque elements would have done for now.

Looked like it has been deadly polished through newly in addition to the dark tints showing off. It could as well not be the FNG but LR's workshop only where it is being readied for the show/packing off. Guess they would not want to bare it open so soon yet before launch and some insider having got peak at it managed to snap it though

Sometime long back, when the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe was about to be launched(previously shown as a concept), the production model was spotted in local car wash/detail shop. This looks like it got tinted as the rear quarter picture posted by PPS shows off some work done around the rear glass area.


Anyway, I suppose the new LR Range Rover corporate face goes well only with the Evoque. The Evoque has an equally stylish side profile. But this Sport, has a rather simple side profile relative to the front and back. I suppose the 3rd quarter glass panel looks weird. IMO.

OT, I suppose the picture was taken in USA as there is a Blue Ford(!) Explorer.

I always felt that the Range Rover Sport lacked character. The previous generation tried too hard to look similar yet distinct from its majestic elder sibling and ended up looking confused - sporty but...not quite there... The new one has made its lack of character even more evident, although now, it resembles its younger sibling - the Evoque. Obviously it would be positioned between the two but still I would pick either of its two siblings over the Sport any day (if only I could...)

When I spent time with Dr Richard Woolley during the Range Rover launch. He mentioned the Sport customer was totally different from the traditional RR customer. (in other words new money vs old money, modern vs customer. He indicated that the new Sport will be much more different.

RR actually invited a lot of customers to view the prototypes and provide feedback. They have also studied a lot of the customer profiles, likes and dislikes

As far as losing character goes, RR's started losing their character with the introduction of the P38's, The L322's brought some of that character back but this new RR Sport is plain fugly.

To me it looks more of a WestCoast custom job rather than an official LR vehicle!
