The Facel Vega Concept finally will be presented to the public during the Paris Motor Show "Mondial de l'Automobile 2012" from September 29th - October 14th.
Information is limited at that time, but it will be a sleek coupe with LED-infused headlights, a prominent grille and sculpted bodywork. There's no word on what will power the concept, but the original Facel II and Facellia used Chrysler HEMI V8 engines.

For those like me who have never heard about this brand, here is a little history of this Brand for which we have some info from our Vintage section

to start with the french car FACEL VEGA

this car was the dream project of the frenchman Jean Danninos who started manufacturing this car when the world was in the midst of WW2.
Danninos had made lot of wealth via his metal firm named FACEL .he even was a supplier to PACKARD.
His first car debuted in the 1954 Paris Motor Show as the "FACEL VEGA''.
The craftsman behind this was a guy named Jacques Brossiuer and it was priced $7000 then.He sold 54 cars in the next 24months.
In 1959 he introduced a 2seater coupe named 'FACELLIA"' for $12800. But the quality of this entirely French car was a problem. The company was inundated with guarantee claims and lost its reputation with this model.
The company was liquidated and put under a receiver and in 1964 FACEL VEGA became history

What a coincidence. Just a couple of days ago I shared this shot of the Facel II on another thread.

I first came to know of Facel Vega in 1988 when my dad brought me a huge book of sports cars from the US and I devoured it as a 15 year old, poring over the pictures of the Facels (and others).



Facel was similar to some other cars such as DeTomaso, Iso Rivolta that mated European chassis with american engines, but was by far the best of the lot, the cars themselves engineered and built to the best standards, with the best of european chassis sophistication and premium quality and the most powerful and reliable engines of the time. They were among the best cars in the world at the time, no less than the best Benzes and bentleys, and probably better because of superior engines and atleast equally good chassis and quality

Unfortunately, the company was too small to absorb the sort of problems that a giant might absorb without a hiccup Facel folded with its best and greatest car, the Facel II with its 6.3 and 6.7litre engines being the last of the line.

I'd buy the car for just its name. Facel Vega sounds so exotic by itself (Don't know if that's got anything to do with the character Vega in Street Fighter that I used to play ages ago).

The design looks like a mishmash of an Aston, GTR and the LFA!
