Im wondering if this is GM's answer to Ford Ecosport? |
I hope it is, and loving it! All hail competition.
Edit: Oh boy! The report says it will have a 2.4 L engine. No where close to Ecosport. But then
it is on models for other markets. Which makes me wonder what is this doing in this section!?

This link says it will use the 1.3L diesel for India
Chevrolet Trax Is GM's Compact SUV | MotorBeam - Indian Car Bike News & Reviews
Link also gives dimensions of the vehicle.
Looks good in the image (more or less like Captiva).
Hoping it to be below 7L OTR in India. Am I expecting too much?
Looks nice no doubt.
Wonder when it will come to India!
Trax looks similar to Trailblazer probably. Chevy plans on launching Trailblazer india as a fortuner competitor.
Since this looks like a "mini" trailblazer, GM can / will launch it in india and price it competitively. If Interiors are shared too (Innova/TFORT) I am sure it will be a direct competitor for Ecosport and Duster.
Recently when I was on the lookout for a car, I took a look at Chevy Equinox. Trax looks like a scaled down version of it. The Equinox interiors were a major disappointment. Cheap and plastiky. I hope Trax turns out better than that.
Fantastic! Just right size for our market! And I must add - the shipping version is a lot better than the concept :)
Duster/Ecosport/XUV500/Strome - boy its getting crowded over there!!
Hyundai should bring back Tuscon and price it max 2L more than these..

Very attractive indeed.
The compact SUV segment is finally heating up.
Hyundai should launch their new Tucson, Toyota should bring their RAV4, Nissan, their Qashqai and Juke, Audi their Q2 and so on and so forth etc etc!
Looks like this will sell like a hot cake.

Chevrolet has announced that it will be showcasing the new Trax at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The company claims that the Trax has enough space to accommodate five people in comfort. In addition to a 60:40 split rear seat, the Trax boasts of a front passenger seat which can be folded flat. Storage facilities are also plentiful starting with a 358-litre boot with various bins above and on both sides of the centre stack. There is also stowage space available under the cargo floor.
The engine line-up includes 115PS 1.4-litre turbocharged and 140PS 1.6-litre petrol units as also a 130PS 1.7-litre turbo diesel. While the 1.4 and 1.7 engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual as standard, the 1.6 will be offered only with a five-speed manual. There will be also the option of a 6-speed auto and AWD on both the 1.4 and 1.7 engines. Manual powertrains will also come with stop/start function as standard.

Chevrolet Trax coming to Paris Motor Show 2012 - Overdrive
In India GM has to find a new name, as Trax exists as a Force Motors' rendering.
Remember, Splash was rechristened as Ritz here in India.
Any info on the ground clearance and the petrol engine for india?
The overall ground clearence looks very low considering the picture. The front bumper is too low for a SUV and even the on the sides its low considering the requirement for a SUV. Though the ground clearence on paper may be close to 200 mm but the actual vehicle height allround should be considerably high just like grand vitara which is overall not so high considering its overall height. For a SUV one should be able to drive around potholed roads without any fears of touching the underbody or scraping any portion of the car and should be able to drive on roads with big stones. I am mentioning this fact as I encounter such driving conditions everyday and I require a compact SUV.
