Sir,
I do not own nor I have been inside or driven an Eco sport. I do however own a VW Tiguan (not in India) and Test driven VW Polo in India. Also, I have a Ford Figo in India. As far as I have seen and experienced, Ford and VW are quite far apart in terms of quality , build, design of materials used to build the cars. I even had Skoda Fabia ( which I dearly miss ).
To be honest I would be worried if Ford and VW make same car with same price.

Figo yes. But you should see the Ecosport. Ford has some come quite some distance. All I wanted to say was if VW makes a product which is of the size of Ecosport and puts in the 15-20L category, because of good quality of build over on top of Ecosport, it would be niche offering.

We at least will need a good five seater product to make it for a mass market, even at that price point.

VW 's scraps the Taigun compact SUV program, explores the Polo platform for a new compact car.

VW's T Cross will be the new compact SUV, speculated for a 2018 launch.

Quote:
Volkswagen T-Cross concept heading to the 2016 Geneva auto show could preview a new subcompact crossover aimed at the Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke.
T Roc will be the SUV based on the Golf platform which will be launched in 2017, while a year later T Cross will debut based on the Polo platform .

re: VW to develop EcoSport/Duster Rival - The Taigun. EDIT: Project shelved

VW confirms striking off TAIGUN, the 2012 sub 4m Compact SUV shown at Brazil first, from its development plan, citing reasons of it being too small.

Will bring a new subcompact. Early March the Group will present but now the near-series study of other small SUV at the Auto Salon in Geneva. This it will be probably an SUV version of the Polo. ( T Cross?)
It will rival Opel (Mocha), Ford (Ecosport) and Mazda (CX-3) .

This is the rumored Polo SUV, which is being developed in parallel with the Audi Q2 and two sister cars from Skoda and SEAT.
Volkswagen's concept to be presented soon will be pre-production, and its development may be fast-tracked.
This car will ride on a micro version of the MQB used by the Golf.

For India this is likely to come in 2018.
