Porsche 918 Spyder Brochure - Leaked!

Apparently the brochure of Porsche’s upcoming supercar, the 918 Spyder has been leaked. Here are some pics from Team Speed.

Order up! I'd take one in the Maritini livery

Where is the seven speed stick. Hope Porsche is not dumping it.

Err..did I miss something here?

Wasn't the 7-speed stick shift for the new 911 (991) only?

Yes, but I was hoping Porsche retain the stick unlike Ferrari, Lamborghini for the its super cars.

Stunning design, although the dashboard screen gets "hidden" behind the unorthodox central console. The central console looks like an oversized logitech remote control with a screen.

True, but I suspect Porsche is going to give it their celebrated PDK transmission rather than the 7-speed stick shifter.

This is an out and out performance car like the Carrera GT, I reckon. The new 7th gear has been devised for fuel economy, the 991 911 hits top speed in 6th gear itself.

After many customers have deposited their amount? I'm actually interested in the final price. Apparently it's above $850K.

That centre console is going to be almost unreadable under the sun. Stunning car otherwise!

Porsche 918 Spyder Laps The Nürburgring in 7:14

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think the IC motor charges the batteries when the speed exceeds a certain preset. You could alternately charge the batteries conventionally.

I've no doubt that the 918 some blistering times around Nordschliffe, but how about Porsche grow a pair and set the bar a little higher?

So the 918 Spyder records a brilliant time of 7 minutes and 14 seconds 'round the Nürburgring. Even though cars like the Dodge Viper ACR (7:12:13), Gumper Apollo Sport (7:11:57) and the extreme Radical SR8 (6:55) and SR8 LM (6:48) recorded quicker laps, they were designed primarily for circuit driving and can't be used as daily-drivers really. Besides, the 7:14 time recorded by the 918 was done on road-tyres. A track-pack with slick-tyres and aero-kit would probably reduce that time.

A lap-time of 7:14 effectively dethrones the GT3 RS' previous lap-record of 7:18 making the 918 Spyder the fastest car they've ever built. James may is going to throw a fit.

918 Spyder prototype turns in lap time of seven minutes and 14 seconds

Stuttgart. On September 18th, in test drives on the “Nürburgring-Nordschleife”, a Porsche 918 Spyder prototype turned in a remarkable best time of just 07:14 minutes for the 20.6 km long circuit. One year before its production launch, the plug-in hybrid super sports car from Porsche AG is already proving its superlative dynamic performance potential  far surpassing all expectations placed in it. Dr. Frank Walliser, overall project leader for the 918 Spyder: “By turning in a fabulous time of 07:14 minutes, the 918 Spyder prototype has already fully confirmed the viability of its future concept after just a few months on the road.”

The lap time of the Porsche 918 Spyder prototype is one of the best ever clocked for street-legal vehicles with standard production tyres. The course was only available to the development team from Weissach for one lap, and it had to be started from a standstill. The plug-in hybrid super sports car with over 795 hp was equipped with production tyres from development partner Michelin as well as the optional “Weissach” package, which integrates modifications that boost driving performance.

Chris Harris rides shotgun on the 918 and discuss the amazing technology behind this insane hybrid. Geek alert!

Re: Porsche 918 Spyder EDIT: Brochure Leaked / Sets Record Lap-Time @ Nürburgring: Pg

Chris Harris drives the prototype 918 Spyder for 3 laps and is not very impressed. He thinks the LaFerrari and P1 has the edge by employing KERS.

Porsche, wanna join F1?

The car sounds great with those top mounted exhausts. But I have a doubt. If and when it rains, won't water enter the exhaust on top? I know Porsche is too clever to not think about this, but how is the water kept out when the car is parked in rain?

I.guess there would be some unidirectional valve arrangement.. I agree to Chris Harris.. the P1 and La Ferrari have the performance edge.
