The rear suspension bearings and damper tuning have been updated for more precise handling too, while engines include a redesigned 1.8-litre four-pot petrol producing 170bhp and 236lb ft of pulling power (up from 160bhp/184lb ft) thanks to changes in the turbo, injection system and valves, and the supercharged 272bhp V6 new to the line-up. The 2.0-litre TFSI with 211bhp remains, while the 2.0-litre TDI (177bhp) still returns just over 50mpg. There's also a 3.0-litre diesel V6 in two flavours - 204bhp and 245bhp.

The S5 Coupe also joins its Sportback and Convertible siblings and loses the 350bhp 4.2-litre V8, replaced with a supercharged V6 producing 333bhp - in this model, it sprints to 62mph in 4.9 seconds and tops out at a limited 155mph.

Audi India should have waiting for this facelift before launching the S5 in India. What happens to the current stock of S5 CBUs? I doubt they can discount it so close to it's launch but again it would be unfair for buyers getting a pre-facelift model when the new one is launched.

Btw, what is the third pic ? A four dour A5 ?

Never heard of a 4-door A5!! Google Audi A5 Sportback It was launched last year.
It does look very very similar to the A7.

The S5 was never launched here. It was the RS-5

Ahh!! Glad to learn something new then. Thank You. Its just a smaller A7 then isnt it. Quite pointless I think.

I came across a car with a very similar looking rear. I wasn't able to get a shot of the front however. It did not have the 4 rings or any badge to indicate model at the back. The rear looks similar to the OPs pictures though. Perhaps a different model but from the same future generation.

They haven't launched the S5 or the A5 yet. I guess they were waiting for the facelift before launching. Either way the RS5 will be unaffected because the RS is quite different besides the similar looking body. Even if you see the new A6, the RS6 is offered in the old body style.

The A5 was the only model which i genuinely like (being an Audi hater),
but now it's gone. The new one just looks too generalised. Everything from a supermini to crossovers to full size luxury car looks the same in Audi stable.
And the second pic, if it was not for the size relative to the other road cars, i would have thought of it as a Kia sedan.

Hey thats the A6, its due to be launched in August as well.

The A6 has already been launched. I think it was a hush-hush affair, but A6s are on display in showrooms all across the country.

UPDATE: Audi says that these model changes are for Europe only, at least for the 2012 model year. Rest of the world will have the same A5/S5 as last year, which means we get to enjoy that 4.2L V8 one year longer. Expect the facelift to come to India only in 2013 or so.

That's a bit weird. If it's still 2 years from launch, why would they preview it so soon? And the Kolkata showroom had more than one on display, IIRC.

uhh...I'm a bit confused here! 2 years from launch? You're talking about the all new A6 right? It's getting launched in August
