The new Actros - Welcome to a new dimension


It is the first all-new truck to have been developed uncompromisingly under the "Trucks you can trust" premise. Among other things, this means that the new Actros has undergone 2600 hours of fine-tuning in the wind tunnel, 50 million kilometers of engine testing on test rigs and in real-life operation, and 20 million kilometers on the road. It is the first and, to date, only truck which has been developed rigorously to comply with the Euro VI emissions standard.

Let me be the first to comment on this beauty on wheels. I think I should give up my career and start to being a truckker! What a beautiful piece of creation from Mercs. So its indeed true that Mercedes is back now, with their renowned quality and innovation and are following their tag line -"Do the best, if not dont do". Its even got a seat massager in its top end. How cool is that!!

Of course it's ultimate success depends upon how it's priced, and based in its looks, it'll cost a lot more than the competition. Don't know how many companies would justify the additional costs.

@AlphaKilo: The tag line for Daimler Trucks is "Trucks you can trust" and for Mercedes Benz cars it is "The Best or Nothing".

@kadanaJ: It will cost a bomb for sure for the full spec, which will be bought mostly by individual truckers in EU, Americas and Australia. Fleet operators who are the bulk buyers would go for the minimum specs in either Day Cab or Sleeper Cab depending on the haulage distance. As per the information from Daimler, they are offering 7 cab types to the customers.

Sir, thanks for info. I just wanted to quote that here because, on the whole these days Daimler-Benz(all the divisions) is back on track, concentrating more on quality rather than quantity.

Any idea on engine spec? The web page just says it's a Euro VI and has a maintenance interval of 150,000 kilometers

Seriously an awesome piece of machinery, an actual beauty in a hulk of a machine.

now THAT is Mercedes quality reflecting right there after ages.

If they just had a bit 'smaller' version - I would attach a small container to the back and literally make this thing my mobile home with a clinic for rural areas.
In this current avatar the height is a little too much for indian conditions.
With this thing I probably would not be able to go under atleast 10 different flyovers in my own city!

Heck, is that a truck's cabin? As someone else here pointed out, the cabin, the seats and the overall interior quality seems to be fit enough to go straight into a luxury car. Awesome is the only word that I can use for this work of art.

The exteriors again reeks of quality and the design is edgy and modern. Only the grille could have been designed slightly better. Overall, its a superlative effort by Mercedes-Benz and the Actros is all-set to continue its success story across the worls with this new generation model.

The Actros will come with Mercedes-Benz OM 471 inline six cylinder, 12.8 L displacement, which has a power output range of 310 kW (421 hp) to 375 kW (510 hp) and maximum torque of 2100 to 2500 Nm.

The first thought after looking at the pics- Hmm, color them blue and red and voila, you've got your own Optimus Prime!

Converting them to RV's would be so cool.
