The New Hyundai I40 Sedan

Indian Car and Bikes are running a story on the new I40 from Hyundai. Its a pretty sweet looking car but i really cant figure out the segment they are trying to target with this thing? In between the size of the Elantra/Avante and the Sonata? Thats some funny positioning almost like that of the Kizashi in India !!

Re: The New Hyundai I40 Sedan

Could it be that they are looking more at the Civic/Corolla/Cruze segment? The front looks better than the new Verna, though one can't comment without looking at the rest of the exterior. I personally don't like the this front styling though, reminds me of i10, and doesn't look like an upmarket Sedan. The headlamps are nice though.

Re: The New Hyundai I40 Sedan

Its a nice looking car but i doubt if it will reach india in the near future. As of now they are surely launching i45 and they might launch avante by the end of the year according to a source in hyundai

I dont understand why people are cribbing that the fluidic design of the new verna , i40 is similar to i10 , just cause it was the first car from the current generation to be launched ? what if they had launched the new verna before the i10 would the comment would have been same ? Infact we can also say that hey the new vento , jetta looks like the polo and i wont buy it as it looks down market but we wont.

I simply dont understand why people only crib just because its korean.

Not sure if this will be launched in India. This is based on the i45/Sonata platform, but targeted for Europe.

Re: The New Hyundai I40 Sedan

Thats a sweet looking sedan no doubt, but all the 'Fluidic Sculptures' are looking so startlingly similar. Except for eagle-eyed enthusiasts like us Team BHPians, all the models from the i10 to the Verna, Elantra, Sonata and now the i40 would look exactly the same.

IMO, all these so-called 'Family Look' that most companies incorporate in their entire lineup has improved the image and recall ability of the brand as a whole but has killed the identity of the individual models. Look at VW, Audi and now Hyundai. Almost all the models from the smallest to the biggest in the lineup have the same frontal design and look so similar that you can't identify the models but can only identify the brand. Is that what these companies want? Dont they want the fame and popularity to reach the individual models too?
