No limit.
But, we'd recommend a break for the car and the driver every 20-30 minutes.
Thats about 6-7 laps including in/out laps.

Those who're new will realise the importance of fitness in the very first session.
20 minutes of the circuit and you'll realise the meaning of the term 'endurance' and why F1 drivers do 3 hours of intensive training EVERYDAY.

Tip: Hydrate yourself before, during and after the track day.
Dehydration would cause muscular cramps and thats a very bad thing while on the circuit.
I've experienced this myself and have also seen plenty of participants with this issue.

That was very informative. I understand there is to be no racing. Is everyone supposed to stick to a particular speed and if not, then what are the rules for overtaking?

There are NO LIMITS : Only Safe Driving. You will be told before you take your car on track what to do and what NOT to DO.

Everyone drives at their own pace. The only ambiguity comes in with regards to overtaking. These are the different versions I have heard:
  1. It is the perogative of the driver performing the overtaking maneuver to get around the slower vehicle as safely as possible. The slower driver is not expected to deviate from the(ir) racing line in order to accommodate the faster vehicle. But this doesn't imply the slower vehicle should purposely try to block the faster one. This keeps everything predictable, and leaves the decisions to the person behind since they have a better perspective to make decisions.
  2. If a slower vehicle sees an obvoiusly faster vehicle approaching from behind, they should move off the racing line to allow the faster vehicle to pass. I personally do not agree with this, but have heard it often.
  3. No overtaking permitted on the turns at all. Again, I dislike this rule, as overtaking on turns can be performed safely with a distinct set of rules in place.
I guess this is what will be discussed on the actual p&p day.

There aren't any, but after 6-7 laps you will automatically head for pits, believe it or not by driving on track is not easy, i mean you will get fatigued way before your car. everytime i got to the track for next two days i have muscle cramps in hand, legs etc .......

Let me clear this up.
Its 600 bucks per day/session is for members of the 'Madras MotorSports Club' (MMSC).
Its 1000 for everyone else.

Land up with 1000/- bucks + helmet + car before 1 pm at the venue. I guess that should do. Me planning the same. At least can contribute towards record keeping of lap timings on my iphone stopwatch and maybe tag along a camcorder as well.
