| BHPian  | Go-karting race - report & pics Date 23rd July 2009 Venue Torq03 @ Marathalli, Bangalore Time 7.00 PM IST (But became Indian Strechable time literally) Spectators and Cheering squad brraj Rishi (Doomsday) Ritesh's friends v1p3r's friends Vishal's friend (Karthik) Participants (19) v1p3r Binz PhrozenFire (Viraj) Raaj Siddartha The Wolf (Ritesh) Oversteer(Karthik) Vishal Tejas Ritesh's friend Vidyuth Aniketh Prithvi Mohinish (memo_45) Sanjay (Race dynamics) Pavan (Race dynamics) Gaurav Kapil Mehrzaan Race format 2 laps to get a feel of the track - All 19 8 laps of timed qualifying laps, to stack rank the participants - All 19 10 lap SEMI-FINAL in a race format, Winner moves to the finals - All 19 15 lap FINALS - 5 What an event? Thank you all for making it for the event. Reached Torq at 6.30 PM to decide on the - Race format - No of laps at each stage - Cost Estimated 30 participants but landed with 19 Some sincere early birds to join me on time were  Kapil - Tejas - Vidyuth - phrozenfire - Prithvi - Raaj - brraj After a few phone calls another bunch arrived   The Elusive gang of v1p3r, memo, binz, The Wolf (Ritesh & Co) arrived at 7.45 PM.  Had to re-work the cost as the number of participants had changed. Let's RACE It was extremely exciting for all of us to RACE and not be bothered about the damages  . Full credit to Chetan of Torq who was brillant from start to end. Leg 1 - Practice & Qualifiers 19 RACERS were split into 3 teams. The first two laps were not timed. 8 other laps were timed to stack rank all of them. Raptors were used in qualifying and all of us were eager to know our times and where we stand. I would like to call out Sanjay (Race Dynamics) who did a staggering qualifying time. It was a surprise for some, who has not witnessed this old timer. Apart from the big names of MEMO, BINZ, MEhrZaan. A few underdogs like Kapil, phrozenfire, Gaurav, Tejas, Prithvi and Karthik (Oversteer) shined.   .... to be contd.. | very well organised & brilliantly Run, Raaj Looking forward for more events from you. It was a fun event. Some of them were very good on the track, including Monish & Kapil. Learnt a lot from you guys |

| BHPian | Semi Finals This was the real deal, the actual RACE per say. After all RACERS had the timings. We went with the GRID format and stacked all of them. Team line up was as follows Semi Final – 10 Laps Each S.No Name Kart No. Best Lap time Team -1 1 Binz Intruder – 1 0:33:67 2 Vidyoth Intruder – 4 0:34:68 3 Raaj Intruder – 5 0:36:42 4 Akshay Intruder – 6 0:35:24 A good start to the event as this team did not have any crashes or tiffs. Binz rocketed out to win. While my kart with an uncleaned fuel intake shutdown on a straight with full throttle. I was dumped on Team 5 and push to the fourth slot. Team -2 1 Sanjay Intruder – 1 0:34:40 2 Mohineesh Intruder – 3 0:34:42 3 Tejas Intruder – 4 0:35:32 4 Karthik Intruder – 6 0:35:70 This was a race that offered EXCITMENT to all of us. Sanjay crashed out of the start, with Tejas and Karthik driving superbly. Tejas the underdog was doing brilliantly well with a lead on the race. MEMO - THE PRO, being a close second could nt sit and watch. The pressure eventually got to Tejas who spun and gave way to MEMO who never looked back. Team -3 1 Gaurav Intruder – 4 0:33:95 2 Kapil Intruder – 3 0:33:90 3 Shreyanah Intruder – 1 0:35:59 4 Siddharth Intruder – 6 0:35:68 This batch had NO BIGGG names, but offerred some brilliant karting. Gaurav who has taken part in the JK karting championship was no slouch. Kapil took the lead on the first corner with Gaurav on his tail till the very end. On the 9th lap, Gaurav crashed into Kapil to snatch the lead but Kapil did well to hold the line and keep his win. BEST PART Vidyuth call Kapil to the pit on the 9th lap only to see Kapil slow down enter the pit instead of completely the race. A big shout from all of us make Kapil to go and join the race again, this was promptly followed by Gaurav as well. .. Team -4 1 Mezaan Intruder – 3 0:33:14 2 Viraj Intruder – 4 0:34:05 3 Prithvi Intruder – 6 0:34:96 4 Ankit Intruder – 5 0:36:42 Mezaan, A PRO. Who has karted umpteen number of times. Drove like a charm. Viraj gave a good fight but could keep up with the featured weighted Mezzan (Who had too much power to weight ration). Aneketh (Christened Ankit but the Torq folks ) was an extremely good BLOCKER. Prithvi got his blood boiling when he was constantly blocked by Ankit who was happily driving his own race. Team -5 1 Ritesh Intruder – 1 0:35:25 2 Vishal Intruder – 4 0:34:94 3 Pavan Intruder – 3 0:36:95 4 Raaj Intruder – 6 0:35:18 Last but NEVER The least. The big names. The Wolf - Drives the fastest OHC vtec RD Pavan - Man behind the RD ECU Vishal - 1600 cc INRC first round winner Raaj - Orga* raiser According to my known circle this gave them the MAX entertainment. I wanted to make best use of my GOD given second chance. On the first corner, I was second. 2nd corner, spUN Ritest (THe Wolf) out and took an extremely comfortable lead. Every thing was amazing, till I hit a straight on full throttle..to have my helmet (Kapil's helmet borrowed, NOW I know..why he gave his helmet to me) clogg my vision .. went and rammed the tyres .. only to see Vishal patiently over take me... I would have then done some 4 or 5 DOSAS.. rammed into Pavan..tried to crash him as well.. and then pulled out of the race with sense of achievement. Kart no 6.. NEVER did better than a 3rd spot. |

| BHPian | If you liked the SEMIs, Here are the FINALS Finals – 15 Laps Each S.No Name Kart No Lap Time Winners 1 Mezaan Intruder – 3 0:33:14 I 2 Binz Intruder – 5 0:33:67 3 Kapil Intruder – 6 0:33:90 III 4 Mohineesh Intruder – 4 0:34:42 II 5 Vishal Intruder - 1 0:34:94 Brilliantly diven by everyone. The winners Mezaan Mohineesh (MEMO) Kapil (Well deserved 3rd place) Binz had some technical issues with his kart, else it would have been a delight for all us to watch. With this event, we have broken all track records on all karts at Torq. We did damage some karts but did break any.. It was a BRILLIANT experience for me. Feels amazing to meet like minded folks. I must THANK each and every one at Torq. The mechs, the marshalls. A big THANK you to Ganeshan and CHETHAN..the star for managing the whole show. Thank you all for making this event a grand success.
