Take a look:

Buddy, the reason why Croydon had such a small logo on this car might be that it's running in India and they don't give a damn. Or maybe Mr. Singhania had a lot of other stickers he wanted to display, just like all his other cars. Otherwise, in their own country, even Croydon is not so publicity shy.

Lol, those are Croydon team cars. Their website is full of DEVLSH, though the site isn't updated that often. Anyway, I just found it pretty funny.

And trust me, Croydon is pretty well known even in India. The minute I was told the car is Australian in origin, I checked them.

Buddy, most of the cars carrying the tuner stickers and banners were team cars too. Just have a look at the result sheet.

Jus a Few questions. SERIOUSLY WHAT WERE THE MODS DONE TO YOUR CAR.

If no Port polish/ head shave has been done is it OK to use 107octane fuel wHICH YOU WERE RUNNING???
Dingdong,

Chill firstly fuel is free(you can use any kind of fuel you want in all classes.) Next almost 80% of the cars in Street Stock were ported/polished(except your gang and my car that I know of.) Remember Stand Alone is allowed which he was using and that time he clocked should have actually been better.

just a .2 second difference between the 2nd and the 3rd place!! wow! that must be a very quick baleno.. to have been so close to that honda or was it exactly the opp.. a slow honda n a realtively faster baleno
I don't think the City "16.308" or the Baleno "16.683" were that quick. If i rem right, Mclaren's Baleno was in the low 16s last year and Wolf had done a 16.5 in Blore with just basic mods.

I've heard that cars run a bit quicker in Bbay due to it's higher density of air, so even if Wolf can match his Bbay time, it should be a good performance.

Shan2nu,

Mclaren was running high compression pistons, diff rods(basically a stroker kit), exhaust, port, polish fpr etc etc all of which are not allowed in street stock. What he was not running was a stand alone.

Dear Shantanu. IIRC, Mclaren's Baleno was running
  • Porting & Polishing.
  • Custom Drag Spec 4x1 Headers.
  • Custom freeflow and exhaust.
  • K & N Air Filter Conical.
  • Custom High Compression 76mm Pistons.
  • Forged Crank & Conrods.
  • Fuel Pressure Regulator.
  • Short Ratio Gearbox.
  • Exedy Stage II Clutch.
  • Custom camshaft and valve springs.
  • First oversize (previous setup) : 76 x 90 mm.
  • Compression Ratio: 11.3 : 1
  • 125 bhp atleast (tuner claimed).
The 16.683 sec Mumbai Baleno belongs to a very close friend of mine. And from what I know, he's just running headers and conical filter.

Considering stuff that flows around for that tuner, I would have to believe the 1L 15 sec Zen story also.

Congrats to all the boys from team bhp..

Wolf - Good run, and i know its getting better for the next run .. Man only if you had a good battery !!

Adman - Appreciate your effort in building a "not-so-common" car !! We will make sure you are faster next time around.

Viper - Nice run, considering the way your car was prepared

Rocam - Liked the way your car responded under boost !! You might need to spend more time on calibration though..

Ported, you're quite welcome to come and check the Baleno in question. That is, if you can put your money where your mouth is. If you find anything else than headers and an Ractive conical filter, I'll run the next speedrun on a bicycle.
About the 1L 15 sec Zen, if people had doubts last year, why didn't they object? I'm emphasising again, you have to put your money where your mouth is. It makes no sense just being a spectator and speculating.
And about that tuner, he's entered the 1L 15 sec Zen in the 1150 to 1450 pro stock category this year and has still managed to win the podium. There's also a 1.6 Viva which was entered in the 1.8 category and won the podium. Now that's what I call putting your money where your mouth is.

PS: Mine's a 1.4 Corsa which I was running in the 1.6 category.

Chetan,

I second that and this goes to all those who just believe in shooting their mouths of speculating and passing loose comments as well.

Shan2nu, according to you, Wolf had done 16.5 in Blore with just basic mods. If that's true then what other mods have been done to shave off more than a second in the street stock category.
