Hyderabad to get a Formula E race?

According to various articles published on numerous websites, Formula E has named Hyderabad as a potential venue to host a race. Would be a cracker of a situation then!

KT Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development of Telangana has revealed that a LoI has been signed and a potential race might happen in the months of December 2022 & March 2023.

This is a really good news for Hyderabad and all motorsport fans. If I recollect correctly, even Chandrababu Naidu was working to get Formula 1 to Hyderabad before it went to Noida.

One of the best motorsport things that could happen to India esp Hyderabad after missing out on hosting F1 and India ultimately losing F1 race.

At this point we welcome any motorsport events thrown at us after starving for such. I feel India has lot of potential when it comes to hosting various motor/adventure sports provided Govt initiates and actively encourages them. Kudos to K.T Rama Rao for positioning Hyderabad as potential venue which I hope will encourage other states to bring more such events to India.

Amazing news, hope they can keep this on the calendar longer than Delhi for F1.

This circuit almost looks like a simplified version of the Vietnam Gran Prix circuit, which was supposed to be inaugurated in 2020, but has still never taken place.

Just hope there isn't any kill joy activists/ pressure groups/ fame seeking lawyers/ PLI et al.

A really great news.

Good to see Formula E coming to India, even though would have been overjoyed if Formula 1 could make its way back.

I don't expect much resistance to this. I am guessing this was planned looping in the transport ministry and might be used to promote EVs in India. If nothing else, people in Hyderabad can hope for some nice roads as the race approaches.

Really excited for the FE race in Hyderabad. But only disappointment is location of the track itself.
There are many iconic locations and many locations with varying altitude in Hyderabad which could have been the best location for racing. Even ORR would have been awesome place to race, but the politics came into picture and wanted a track near the new secretariat. Even the Buddha statue wont be clearly visible from the track.

Happy that a race is happening in India but the track, I'm afraid, looks quite characterless. It looks like they're racing literally in a T. Very few corners and flow lines.

Agree with the above post- even Ramoji Film City with all its nice roads with varying elevations and a dash through the sides of the ORR, would've been exciting.

PS: I've only been to Hyderabad once and been to both places and wanted to drive inside the Ramoji Film City like a hooligan.

Very unappealing stretch for racing, even go-kart circuits would have more corners than this. With these short straights, the max speed of 280kmph does not make any sense.

Such a great news would surely be booking the first thing when the window opens. Would be great to see Antonio drive after his stint at Sauber F1. I just hope Buddh makes a return with F1.

ORR might be too long to be considered a race track but the stretch circumventing KBR park would have been my choice for the Formula E track
