Nissan has announced the opening of registrations for the seventh season of the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy competition in India.
Gamers with access to a Sony Entertainment Network account, a PlayStation 3 and the Gran Turismo 6 game, can play online to qualify for the national finals.
Participants who wish to compete in the live events can log on to www.nissan.in/innovation/gt-academy to pre-register. The live events will commence from June 5, 2015 in Delhi followed by Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai over the subsequent weeks.
Online participants will get an opportunity to drive the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO car at the Circuit de la Sarthe, home of the Le Mans 24 Hours, before the car makes its real-life debut in the endurance race. An in-game time trial, featuring perfect recreations of car and track, will constitute the final Gran Turismo 6 time trial for the 2015 Nissan PlayStation GT Academy competition.
The final round of the online qualifying competition goes live on Tuesday, June 2 and runs until June 16, just after the actual Le Mans race.
10 fastest contestants each from live and online events will go head to head at the National Finals in June. Six finalists will then move to the Silverstone Race Camp to compete in the GT Academy Asia, which also includes winners from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan. The winner of the GT Academy Asia will get an opportunity to race at the Dubai 24hrs in January 2016.
