Yup, am there for 10th. Advise.. well keep it safe, know the limits of your car, and limits of your ability, and drive two notches below each for atleast 3-4 laps. Get the line right befor you start pushing it. Dont shift in the middle of a corner, unless you MUST. Brake well in advance for the first few laps, so you can learn the racing kine for the track. Once you get the line right, then start pushing, braking late, accelerating early and your times will go up nicely.

Keep egos at home, learn from the cayman in the video, he didnt break the line because it wasnt safe. Me and the slk flew past him when we had the window, while he missed the window. He acknowledged it, and stuck behind the slow car, till he got another safe window. He could have very well broken the line, and got ahead of everyone, but he didnt.

Annd again keep it safe for everyone on the track. Watch the video of the track a few times, see how much you can memorize the track, the braking points, anf the line.

What will you be driving??

Great! And thanks for the advise. I have pushed my car on the e-ways many times and do know its sweet range and limits. But am anxious how it is going to be driving on the track for the first time! I will be driving a Civic (stock).

Civic is going to be great fun on the track. The low stance and the wide track will be very helpful in corners. Just be a little careful on the chicanes as quick steering on the car tends to get the rear loose, and rear loose on a fwd car = spin.

Like i said before, start slow, and then begin pushing little by little on each subsequent lap.

I made a quite a few mistakes in the laps in the video posted. See if you can identify them, n post them here. :-)

Here's a perfect video for that, along with a track map showing the elevation changes too ;)

Note that the braking points are on the safer side (alteast for the SLS), so start off with this and then as prithwi said, only after a few laps begin to push.

I took it during this event: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super-...-launched.html

The frist vid is good, as it gives a very clear understanding of the track, but it skips one of the most trickiest sections, the winding and tightening corner after the chicanes. That is where 90% of people screw up as they go wide and accelerate when they should be breaking. The tightening of the corner comes up so suddenly that mid corner correction is nearly impossible. So you slam the brakes, understeer, and go off. Not to mention that this place is alwys clogged as most cars slow down to be on the safe side.. Took me nearly 6 laps to get this line correct.

What tyres pressure is ideal for the track? And is Nitrogen recommended? I have 225/45/17" PS3

And on the track, can there be a co-passenger, or is it just one-person (drive) only game? And yeah, in the check-list I received, it mentioned a helmet. Can I use any normal bike helmet?

@prithwi-81, what time slot is yours?

225 wow... thats a bit too large for the stock civic, even the much powerful SI comes with 215s max, so this might actually hurt your acceleration.

Anyhow, before you come to the track, ideally drop PSI by about 1-2 than what you normally fill. Note that doing this will increase cornering grip and braking, but come at the cost of increased treadwear. Last Track day, I went with stock pressure of 32psi on all 4. Before second session dropped 1 psi as the tires had gone to 33.

IMHO, the pressure adjustments is not mandatory if your running stock tires (unless your stock tires are racing ones like the Evos and STIs). Just a safety net. Drop of 1-2 psi will be easily covered up in 10 hot laps. If your doing more than 1 session, might be a good idea to have a pressure gauge around.

Max 4 passengers per car as far as i remember, but honestly if your going to push the car, the max you should go is to have 1 passenger in the front seat. Rear passengers can get very uncomfortable, and also distract you. Any decent helmet will do.

Also for first timers, it a good idea to have a friend in the front passenger seat calling out braking markers and cars ahead and behind. Its invaluable and can definitely help you get used to the track faster. See how good @Krazydriver84 was as a co-driver in the video. Calling out cars ahead, calling out braking markers, acting as a second point of view during overtaking etc. It REALLY helped.

This time i've signed up for all 4 sessions. So I'll be there from 845-9pm onward. See you guys there.

For the first timers, please try not to miss the briefing session.

Better Video of track and racing line.

The progressively tightening corner begins around 1:28 in the video. Suggest you guys see this and understand how it tightens. This is a RWD car so it wont give u an idea. See the same in the video i took, and you will get how tricky this can be for a FWD car.

Last track day I managed 2.53 in My honda city, This one with New Brake pads ( Hope they come in from the US in time ), New Cams and a tune. I look to move my time up. Tires I hope I can put on Yokohama semi slicks if my pocket allows :D

Just 4k :O

I'll be registering. See you guys on 10th.

So before I get there what do I need to take care of in the car?

My civic is running on Primacy LC 195 with 32PSI.

Wow.. 2.53 is pretty amazing in a Honda City with stock suspension and tires!! Did you get it timed using the tracker that buddh gives u to do the timings?

Was this at the 17th Feb track day or the earlier one in 2012? I know they added the sweeping curve to the layout on 17th, which was closed in the Oct 2012 event.

If you did do 2.53, your a hell of a driver, considering that my VRS with fatter tires, stiffer suspension and more power did the same. Kudos..:thumbs up:thumbs up

I am not sure,if you are aware, but his OHC probably makes as much power as your VRS:)

Hi Prithwi,

My Honda City does not run stock suspension or tires, It has full coilover with fatter 195/55 section tires with a Big 4 piston brake kit. I was suppose to get a full rear disk brake kit also but it will not land in time.

Trust me i am a very new driver because Phil, who is my tuner and friend managed 2.46 out of the same car in the previous track day. He will be there on the 10th and I hope he can manage a time of near 2.40s.

I would surely love to meet you and check your car as I have been wanting to buy a new car ever since I sold my Turbo Civic and the RS looks like a perfect upgrade. Akshay has posted the link to my build thread, check it out for more details.

See you at the track.:)

Right, we had taken the inner motorbike turn during the AMG drive. It didn't have the tightening at the end.

However, the last time i was there, the outer corner was open. What we were told by instructors was to:
1) Double-apex that corner (wide-apex-wide-<brake>-apex-exit)
2) Brake slightly when aiming for the 2nd apex, to get the car to point in more

If you see Norman's record lap (video you posted), watch the G-meter at ~01:37 and you'll see that he too decelerates a bit there, and you'll notice how the car reacts by noticeably pointing in at this time.

Have fun!
