A wonderful concept. Could easily replace Reva too, in India if launched.
I too liked the + / - thing. Very creative thought.
Also, the range ( 100 odd kms per full charge) too is good for daily commuting.
Hope, atleast all the cities ( including tier 2 and 3) in India have a continuous power supply to charge this.
Could be a big hit, if properly priced. Even our Govt has announced some tax rebate on these.

Beautiful concept from TATA! Remains to be seen how much they are able to convert into the production version though!

But, the rear design looks dangerous to me. Production version may resemble the Ritz rear end, which has not been widely accepted for its looks.

Production version is reportedly not seen even in their research centre in Pune. Feel they are developing this proto in U.K.
Hope it might be productionized in Ahemdabad's nano plant. It has the capacity to double the volumes from 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh per annum.

This is an awesome design! Just what a concept car should be! Drool worthy!

And guys, who are worried about the door, look at the bright side, you can now fetch the elusive apple off that tree and still act ignorant! :D

Where did they get the designers from, Pixar? :) Well, it is a compliment of course. Even the name hints at Pixar.

But the door is not practical in real life. In Mantri Mall (Bangalore), there is no way to get out of this car once it is parked. The roof is so low, I have to hold i10 rear door from opening up fully, if not it will bang the roof.

Looks good, though very far from a real car. We need cars like this and Nido for city travel in countries like ours, but electric please!

Just one word : AWESOME.

Even if it ends up finally as an only for EU compact, it would indeed be a matter of pride, every time you see this cutie on the European roads, with the Tata logo prominently displayed at the front.

TATA should do a TV Advt. featuring this product as the center piece, show it parking and then the doors lifting, plus a look on the inside and then show their entire cars line-up on the last screen.

Kind off like the Honda Robot Advt. or the new Hyundai Corporate sound advt that they are running during the world cup.

This would do wonders for the TATA Brand.

As a Markerting professional feel that TATA should not let this oppotunity get wasted. Everyone who saw the pixel snaps in office was like WoW.

If i go on looks, Pixel looks amazing. Fact remain same. Instead of adding wings to Nano and re-naming it, i would say make Nano safer! Never ending fire incidents, story after story between break.

The car looks fantastic and practical. However I'm afraid when it reaches Indian consumers they're most probably change the engine, give it regular headlights (not LED), put skinny tyres and change the door to a normally opening one, thus "customizing" it for us and removing it's premium aspect.

:Shockked:

This is my reaction ...
Its a small wonder car !!! Marvelous, super, too good .... TATA has developed a great car. I hope this will come in India as well. Also hopefully they will launch much like what it has shown. Specially doors. Looks like a sports car. 1.2 L engine must be good & adequate for all the requirements. Also fuel efficient.

All the best TATA, keep the great work going clap:

Pixel looks great! But this car would deserve a smooth and refined engine, which is not Tata's forte. A clattering engine would just not go with this looks! An electric motor would be ideal...

Pixel looks amazing. Kudos to the Tata Design Team for coming up with such a futuristic design for Home Bred Tata Nano. Even though, it is built on Nano Platform, looks great.

Hi,
Can anyone shed some light on the hinge, latch, and counterbalance mechanism for the door. Does the counterbalance mechanism intrude into the passenger space? And is operating the door a one handed or two handed operation?

I know we'll never see anything like this in practice, but would like to know what has been done on the show car.

Regards
Sutripta

Car looks amazing, I believe, the door can be split into 2 halves, but the back door should be fit the other way [not in B-pillar]. This way, they can cut down the height of the door.
If not, this car can NOT be parked anywhere other than a open parking in Bangalore !
All the malls have hardly 8 ft of height clearance and would be a huge problem for this to sell !

Prem.

This is really really pretty, if Tata can bring this kind of design cues in their offerings and not have monotonous and plane jane looking cars like the Indica, Indigo, Indigo manza, Aria they would do very well. It is high time they ask the design team which did the Pixel to work on their other cars.

The car looks really avant-garde. Loved the pointy sail mirrors.

For the downside restriction of the lifting door, under ill-designed claustrophobic ceilings, there's also an upside. Cars can be parked really close to each other.

See the girl operate the door using a Samsung Galaxy Tab as a controller. Does Tata provide an Android app for the Pixel?

The Android tablet then docks in the dashboard and plugs into the car's electronics. Per my imagination, it knows the personal requirements of each driver. One can control the demisters, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, stereo, and wonder what else? I would imagine: GPS, central locking, mirror-settings, all cockpit displays, ...

The Android tablet somehow reminds me of the lovable R2-D2 astromech droid in the Star Wars universe. Artoo can download, upload, record and playback holographic messages. He plugs into the CAN-bus of the vehicle and can check its health and operate all its systems as needed.

The Tata Pixel's phenomenal parking maneuverability comes from the near-ninety degree angle that the inner front wheel can attain, complemented by the capability of the rear-axle to contra-rotate the wheels.
