Re: Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano

This is a good concept. But any idea how close is this to production?

About, Pixel, it looks stunning. It can't get any cuter than this.

They have already named it as "A Fresh City Car Concept For Europe". I don't see it coming to India. I hope it doesn't die as a concept.

By looks of it, it does look like an electric car.

A diesel engine and space for 4 makes me believe that it will see the light of the day

I was standing right up front for the unveiling:

They had some technical difficulties with the demo (the doors wouldn't open)

One of the USPs is that its "controlled" (unlocking, music, AC, etc) via a tablet computer. Samsung Galaxy Tab in this case.

The long scissor doors make getting into this 2-door easy for rear passengers too

Cool rear bench design (though this would be one of the things that probably wouldn't make it past concept car stage - due to safety regulations).

Looks like the door will touch the garage roof when fully open.
How high does it go?

+1. Same thought came to my mind on looking at those Scissor doors. Don't Europeans have covered car parking?

B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!
Since it is a two door car, and a four seater, the doors are long and would definitely go very high.

Please do not compare this futuristic design to something like nano! Will be surprised if it retails for less than what a Swift costs!

Re: Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano

It’s a cute little car!!! They have managed to convert the concept to a working model, hope they succeed in evolving this to a road worthy beauty!!!!!!

Knowing TATA there’s a good chance they will get this to India, sooner or later. They might release this engine in Nano first, along with the planned 1.0 Ltr Petrol. A year or 2 down the lane, release Pixel slotted between Nano and Vista.

Wishing them good luck!!!!

If am not wrong , the association of Tata with Geneva Auto Show goes all the way back to 1998. This somehow slowly and steadily created the Tata Brand as a global representation of the emerging Indian Auto Brands.

1998 - Tata Indica Tata Safari. Tata Telcosport (Sierra) .
1999 – TATA Safari and Tata Indica in LHD
Note : Tata also showed off a TATA Safari in full rally gear and livery. This Safari was the vehicle that had been driven in the rally from London to Capetown, completing the arduous 18,000 km journey crossing over 24 countries in just 39 days. The Tata Group also availed of the opportunity to unveil the new TATA Group corporate mark internationally.
2000 - TATA Aria Roadster , TATA Indica European Launch.
2001 – TATA Aria Coupe , TATA Safari 3-Door version.
2002 - TATA Indiva , Tata Indica Sport , Tata Indigo.
2003 - TATA Indigo Marina.
Note : The Company changed from 'TELCO ' to 'TATAMOTORS' w.e.f December 24, 2003. .
2004 - TATA Indigo Advent .
2005 - TATA Crossover.
2006 - TATA Cliffrider .
2007 - TATA Elegante .
2008 – TATA Nano International Debut , Xenon.
2009 - TATA Prima Sedan – Improvised , TATA Nano Europa.
2010 - TATA Nano EV.

Re: Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano

A truly impressive effort by Tata Motors! Over time, they have always been amongst the first few to create new customer segments and experiment with vehicle designs in India.
Surely love the rear "Pixel" name design and the pedals. For a change I noticed and liked a small car!

Look forward to how this actually manifests itself in the Indian market if at all it does.

Re: Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano

Pixel! you look Awesome and stunning. If we just change the TaTa badge and call it Toyota, BMW or Mercedes, still people will believe it, such a quality and futuristic design.

When it goes for production the scissor will be cut short to the front seats and rear access will be through pushing co-passenger seat front. Like a typical 3 door hatch.

We are proud of this concept. Wish it to materialize to production and get huge success.

BTW, what is this engine 3 cylinder 1.2L diesel with such a green emission standard to avail tax free in London? AVL? It is time for them to get or make a Kappa / k-series like engine for their current and future product lines.

Re: Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano

This one does look really nice. The rear-end is pretty basic, but the front and side profile are nice. Especially loved the treatment of head and tail lights. The headlights gives the car a feminine cute look. The tail-lights integrated with the rear-windshield is a nice touch. Liked the + and - signs on the pedals. Anybody noticed, there is only one head-rest on the rear-bench.

On a different note, 'concepts' are generally good looking and lose quite a bit of the glamour as they approach production readiness.
Attaching Kizashi concept and A-star concept pics:
Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano-suzuki_kizashi_concept.jpg

Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano-marutisuzukiastarconceptsideview1.jpg

Tata Pixel : A new City Car concept based on the Tata Nano-marutisuzukiastarconceptrear.jpg
Given these 2 examples, I am not looking forward to Suzuki R3. Pretty sure it would be watered down.
