Looks like a facelift is just around the corner! Cant wait for it, competition is heating up. Even the Lauretta is due to launch in 7 days.

We just had a facelift few days back. I don't think so we will have another facelift within such a short span of time. Don't think this news is credible enough.

In this case, can we say that VW is tight lipped about the modifications/changes it would do on a car

Re: Volkswagen Vento Delays and delivery

Its time to bump up this thread I guess.

There are umpteen stories on VW India Facebook page regarding delays (and in some cases cancellation from the Dealer) especially for Petrol Highline version. Some excerpts:

"I had booked a VV vento petrol automatic at the parklane cars ahmedabad dealership. The dealeship returned my cheque saying they can not supply me 2012 model of vento petrol auotmatic tera beige colour. Man!! VV you need to put your act togather if your want to be no 1 car mfg in comming years."

"I have booked VW Vento Petrol AT on 11 Feb at VW south Bhasin Motors Southex . Thay had promised delivery in 45 days ...and now they say it will take another month?? what is this ?? Can I get some help !!!"

"It's been over 6 weeks that I have booked Vento Highline Petrol with a dealer here in Delhi, the dealer has informed that VW is not dispatching 2012 petrol models and is still clearing 2011 inventory. Can you pls help me with some tentative dates around when the 2012 model delivery will start?"

"I just now got a call from the dealer, he is saying that VW will dispatch 2012 models in June which is so funny. 2012 model getting available in middle of the year..what a joke..since my money is with them ..they are now pushing me to buy 2011 model"

"Just wanted to understand if Volkswagen has no stock of cars manufactured in 2012 in Bangalore. My father paid an advance for Volkswagen Vento on 13th Feb 2012, but he is yet to get a car and the dealer is now offering him a car maufactured in 2011 and there are no colour options also."

"And right now they have no clue about Vento Petrol AT 2012 models. I booked in Nov 2011 Shadow Blue."

So it seems like for Petrol Highline (and AT model) there are no definitive delivery dates at all!!! People are waiting for months (and in one case got booking amount returned).

My case also, salesperson had promised delivery before end March. Now he is not even taking the calls! Yesterday finally got to talk to him only to get that he was not on duty and will update me today with the status.

Hope this update helps any people deliberating Vento (esp Petrol models). How callous really VW have been here in India!

Joslicx I'm no expert at judging what VW is up to with its petrol powered Vento but here is my view.

I was aware that VW is clearing its 2011 stock but petrol powered Vento were available off the shelf and waiting was just for the TDi Highline model. Your AT booking is at 4+ months and still no fixed date, that's surprising.

Why don't you go in with a 2011 model because of the cash discounts offered and 2012 models only have Leatherette seats as an extra over the previous 2011 model and doesn't justify the wait and the extra price which VW would be charging at the time of delivery as the price prevailing at the time of delivery is considered.

And after budget most of manufacturers were expecting a Rs. 80000 tax on diesel vehicles which would in turn increase the sales of petrol siblings which didn't happen. So now the diesel car sales would see a new heights and petrol powered cars would eventually see a decline in sales and further increase in petrol cost would just aggravate the situation. You could have saved some more cash as registration before April'12 by going with 2011 model since the taxes are being increased.

How much is your daily running, doesn't it justify for a diesel? You could write on VW Facebook page they might help as they address every query posted on their page.

In the end what baffles me is whats is going to happen in coming months, since VW is clearing its 2011 stocks in Q1 and Q2 is stating next month. After 2 months monsoon is going to come in and there is slight decrease in sales of vehicles and most of people try to time their purchases during Ganesh Chaturti. After that comes Shraad period and again sales are delayed to Diwali as its auspicious. In the end might just happen VW be selling 2012 manufactured cars in 2013.

I think thats because there are lots of unsold petrol inventory so whether one likes it or not the company and the dealer would try to push it out prior to stocking 2012 models . VW should come out with rollicking sale offer to push out the 2011 models at the very least , if one is forced to buy 2011 models at least the buyer deserves to get incremental discount for helping take off the stock from the stockyard

Oh this particular booking (Nov'11) is somebody else's. He got an email from VW that they are not manufacturing any Petrol models till they clear 2011 stock! I got to know this on Facebook recently. Also another update today is that finally Vento Petrol 2011 inventory is upto acceptable levels and now they will be starting production of 2012 models. People should start getting Petrol 2012 vehicles from April. In that post I have just pasted some comments (lifted off Facebook) from angry customers about their bookings for Petrol model.

As far as my booking is concerned, it was done on 07.03.2012 (on the eve of Holi) with a promise of delivery by end March. Obviously that is not going to happen as I understand now. I was offered some fabulous discounts on 2011 model (total around 1.2L for Petrol HL AT) but they had only one car and it was April 2011 manufactured. I didnt take any chances with that. And yes, now AT price is increased thanks to the very friendly budget (I came to know that the increase is about 22k). There goes all the savings from Income Tax rebates.

My monthly usage is about 500-600KM and I wanted only AT. So Diesel was not in consideration. Most of my driving is in city only (my current drive, i10 hasnt seen the highways yet in 3 years of driving

And you are right. VW might have the same problems again come year end! Its almost April and they have not yet started delivering 2012 Petrol models!!! Accepted that Petrol might not be fast moving but still there are some petrolheads like me. VW should care for all.

There were offers and some people got good deals on Oct-Dec manufactured models. But the problem is they also have lot of older cars April-June ones and its difficult to find buyers for those. If there was a Nov-Dec manufactured car I too would have gone for that. But all the delaers here had only April or May manufactured ones (that too only 1 or 2 cars, so no choice of colors). But then April manufactured means its almost 1 year old, depreciation itself would be more than 2L while the discounts were about 1.2L. It was not worth it.

Re: Volkswagen Vento Delays and delivery

^ I was just wondering if VW has busted it's sales projections on the Vento petrol. Now, if customers are not ready to take 2011 model cars, where will all the 2011 models be dumped to? Will VW re-badge all the 2011 models to 2012 and pass it off to customers who are persistent of a 2012 model? If that happens, the customers are at a big loss of time, money and material.

What if I said my Vento TDi HL has only covered 3994 KM as of today and was purchased on 4 Apr'11. Gone are those days when diesel needs to be driven daily, you could give it a try if you are comfortable with manual. The 250NM via 5 speed transmission will get you addicted to it. At least do test drive it just for trying it out, you might just have a change of mind!

Whenever you did get the delivery of your car, do ask your SA what happened to the April manufactured Vento AT.

What if VW actually did it? Just a tweek with Vin no and some changes in data records and you wouldn't even know anything.

Well I am changing my current car for the AT only! I am driving quite a peppy car right now (the i10 1.20 ) but then the traffic here is horrible and is only going to get worse in future. I dont think I will be able to handle the hard clutch of TDi !!! Comfort over driving pleasure this time

I worked out the economics as well. For Vento D (over its P sibling), since I am taking a loan, I would need to take extra 2L loan which means extra EMI of 6600 per month over next 3 years. If I liberally take running cost as 10 for P and 4 for D version, Diesel will make sense only if my monthly running is more than 1100 KM. Its about half of that.

I dont think it is possible. Otherwise why would they be having the clearance sale these days? If it was so easy everybody would be doing that and there would be no meaning of VIN.

Although the funny thing is, the local dealers here suggested something similar. One of the VW dealer told me that for 3000 extra they can get 2011 car registered with RTO as 2012 model! VIN would not change but on registration card it will carry 2012 model. Whitefield Honda also offered same thing on a 2011 ANHC. I politely refused this offer!

Re: Volkswagen Vento Delays and delivery

Booked my TDi HL yesterday, Black, Silver and White very readily available - I picked Black, will take delivery next weekend.

Surprising that three most popular colors in the most popular variant are availiable of the shelf.

Good luck with your Vento , we had to endure much rougher times around 18 months back
