We should see the realistic figure in March sales thread!
Feb and March sales would just be initial dealer dispatches and these figures could be misleading.

The real sales trend of Kizashi would can be seen after may-june.

January 2011 - MBIL Sales Figures

Luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz India reported a 58.81 per cent jump in sales to 640 units in January, 2011, its highest-ever tally for the month in any year.

The company sold 403 units in the corresponding month last year, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.

The Germany-based car-maker saw sales of its C-Class sedans jump to 265 units, while E-Class models found 252 buyers in India. Mercedes recorded sales of 46 premium S-Class sedans in January, 2011, it added.

The entire range of sports utility vehicles, M, GL and R class cars, witnessed 67 units of sales last month.

"2010 was an exciting year for us. While the market grew at 60 per cent, we at Mercedes-Benz India managed a growth of 80 per cent," Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Peter T Honegg said.

Meanwhile, another luxury car-maker, Audi, sold 480 units in January, 2011, its highest-ever monthly sales in India, as against 306 units in the same month last year, translating into a 56.86 per cent increase.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

While it is interesting to note the Vento effect and the apparent change in the attitude of Honda, VW has a long way to go in terms of customer service. However good their product, this will be a huge determining factor on the fate that awaits the Vento (irrespective of the diesel in its portfolio) as customers get more choices in this year. All may be good in the short term, but it remains to be seen whether they will be competing with Honda or Fiat in the medium term.

How many 5 Series have BMW sold? I couldnt find it here. The number of 5s i see in delhi, it seems like its beating the Superb (50% of its price) in terms of sales ! I wont be surprised if the F10 5 Series overtakes the overall sales of the previous E60 in a matter of months.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

BMW numbers are disappointing, compared to fellow germans. 164 3-series against 265 C-Class, is acceptable considering aging 3-series but 15 X1 is surprising - stock issues?

Audi reaching 480 makes things really interesting :O

The Audi numbers would make the complete report for this month.

GTO: any numbers for Audi. Audi numbers are available in total, and very rarely with model wise breakup

It will be interesting to see numbers of Vento, Honda City, Verna after the launch of SX4 diesel. I am sure all will get affected little bit. Specially Verna. Maruti will easily sell 3000 + vehicles of SX4 combined (P+D). I am eager to see the pricing of the SX4 D. I am sure Maruti will price it sensibly to compete with Vento & City.

The expected price of SX4 would be 50k more than the petrol version and will sport the reliable 1.3L multijet diesel engine.

BMW sales seem to be less than expected. And Mercedes Benz sold 140 units more than BMW! So Mercedes Benz is the king again! But the sales of 5 series stands out with it selling more than the E class. But the S class has sold more than around 7 times the number of 7 series sold!! And Audi is not far behind either. Awesome competition!

Also not to be forgotten is the fact that the S Class is almost at the end of its life cycle whereas the 7 Series is all-new.

But, this was not expected at all after the high profile launch of X1 - BMW falling behind Mercedes-Benz and Audi so close in BMW's tail. The Germans are slugging it out with all their might. But, I have a gut feeling that having lost out to BMW last year too (after 2009), Mercedes-Benz will do all they could to regain the top spot in India.

Re: January 2011 - Indian Car Sales Figures

BMW X1 sales were low as there was no production or very little production, the initial batches sent in December 2010 was only to get the car out, it's full stream production starts now in the middle of Feb so it will be only after March 2011 when you will see it's sales rise, Currently no dealers are able to sell them and they get a few which ofcourse are sold out.

In Ahmedabad they do not even have a TD car yet, and will only arrive by mid March.

I am surprised at the rise in the sales of E, and ofcourse the C perhaps sold a lot as they were not only clearing 2010 inventory but also the pre-facelift cars. But over all a nice month for Mercedes India.

S-Class ofcourse needs no introduction and if it can manage to just hang in there for a year, then next year it is guranteed to beat the rivals by a huge margin with the model W222.

Let the year begin and here's my predictions,

1. BMW
2. Mercedes-Benz
3. Audi

Regards,

,
Ofcourse, no doubt for that. Poor A8 just got one year to run before the next generation sedan comes.
