In developed countries (Read USA) where the models get changed every 4/5 years, most of the manufactures go for a Mid-Life facelift around the 3rd year. It is nice that a country like India where a model life is 10-15 years, Tata is going for a minor Face-Lift this early. Let us hope for a totally remodelled verison in next 3/4 years. Also US stats shows, the highest number of sales for any established model is during the second year (The first full year after the year of introduction), and subsequently the sales goes down each year.

They have a strategy for launching the shorter Wheel base model, the so called C.S in the 3rd year of its launch. May be in early 2012. However, they are infact going to extend the Vista body line, instead of truncating the Manza. Still in proto stage, as know from the sources.

Re: Indigo Manza ELAN Face lift; Scoop shots on Page 1

As per the brochure here is the list of 'New' features.

• Power Windows Operation upto 30s after Ignition 'OFF'
• Full Fabric Seats
• 2 Tone Interior Colour Scheme
• Follow Me Home Headlamps
• Chrome Strip around Front Fog Lamps
• Dual Tone Alloy Wheels
• Chrome Bottom Weather Strip
• Exclusive Tyrian Wine Colour

OT: Looks like they also replaced Vista's 'Aura +' with 'Elan'. Now only QJD and 90HP Safire comes in Aura (ABS) and Elan variant!

Re: Indigo Manza ELAN Face lift; Scoop shots on Page 1

I honestly do not think this minor facelift is going to vastly differentiate Manza's sales. Its a good VFM car, but not great in any particular aspect apart from space. Also, I would like to question Tata's mktg strategy here. With such a minor facelift { an i'm sure an avg joe cannot make out this difference} was it necessary to create a hype? They had hoardings with just the head lamps and the wording "discover me" etc. And even this new website does not show the full car as if its a new launch! They should have done this for a new launch and not for such a minor facelift! Sure, you grab people's attention, but is it honestly going to make a difference in the sales charts? Not much I think.

Its manza, not vista. Both the engine options (1.4 safire 90 and 1.3 quadrajet 90) come in all four variants: aqua, aura, aura ABS and elan.

Sid, I was talking about 'Vista' here hence marked my post as 'OT'. Check out Vista's price info. section, you will know what I'm talking about

The difference in price of QJD BSIII and BSIV is about 10k upto Aura ABS. For Elan it's over 40k. Does not seem logical. This is how it is on Manza site for all locations. Must be some mistake I think in the price of Elan BSIII. They won't offer alloys and everything else at 31k price increase. The difference between Aura ABS and Aura + was already at about 30-35 k.

does this mean that the upgrades are available only on the BSIV version?
Also IIRC, one cannot buy BSIII versions in some cities, is that correct?

5 pages of discussion on a new Manza variant . Just shows how relevant the sedan is to the Indian car scene.

Personally, I remain a huge fan of the Manza, especially in diesel guise. This car, and the Etios, are superior all-round packages to the Dzire.

The ol' gen Indigo was a poor handler, but the Manza is a giant step ahead in road manners. Sure, it's no corner carver, yet it's on-road behaviour is extremely neutral. The Manza's handling meets / exceeds the needs of 99% of the target market.

It's only 17 months since the Manza was launched. How on earth does that require a mid-life facelift? I don't know of too many other cars that went through a mid-life facelift so early.

They need to do something with the rear boot hang. They can easily push the rear axle back to make it look good at the same time liberating a little more legroom if they wish.
Is the wheelbase same as Vista?

The hype created by Tata Motors over the so-called facelift was clearly unwarranted. The car retains its disappointing, third-world looks. Yes, it is spacious and comfortable inside but then so is the Ambassador! It is strange that Mr Ratan Tata considers a good-looker like the Prima not worthy of launch but feels no hesitation in posing for pics alongside this ugly & disproportioned three-boxer.

+1 Totally agree about the rear overhang. If the rear axle is pushed back, it would make the stance much better than it currently is.

The Elan variant seems to have improved in the interior finish. The purple-beige combo looks good and should serve its purpose as well! Going against the drift, the alloys look good actually.

I agree that Manza is better than Indigo. However while comparing with the competition like Dzire and Etios and possibly the upcoming "Fiesta executive", Manza could be the poorest handler.

Again, this adds to TML's strategy of competing just with VFM diesel cars in segments dominated by petrol cars. However once the competition catches up with their own diesel variants, almost all of TML products suffer due to lack to "fun to drive" factor. So IMO the gradual next step for TML would be to introduce AT in all variants right from NANO till ARIA and then figure out ways to improve the handling by possibly fine tuning chassis and suspension.
