Thanks. I filed a complaint on the pgportal today. Fingers crossed. I am not as lucky to get some update on the same day within a few hours. The only status change in my application in last 35 days has been from "Counter unknown" to "ARTO3" and the status showing "Scrutiny (verification of proof documents)" since day one.

You won't get a notification from RTO (unfortunately). You'll need to log in at sarathi parivahan website (for your state) to check the status of your application, scroll down towards the bottom and see the status of the services requested.

Do check in a day or two and post here if you see a change.

vharihar sir. Thank you so much. Less than 24 hours after filing a complaint on pgportal, I just now got an SMS from vaahan about verification and approval and the status on sarathi now shows "PRINTING OF DL IN FORM 7 ( SMART CARD )"

As suggested by vharihar sir in this thread, I would recommend that you file a complaint on pgportal stating your application number and that it is stuck in the same state for 30+ days.

Thank you Sir! Today it moved to "Approval of Endorsements on DL" (counter: allotment info unavailable) though I got a message in the afternoon that it's approved.. Next stage shows printing of DL in form 7. Hope it moves faster..

Apparently the correct procedure is for the backlog entry form to be approved by the original issuing RTO (Chennai in the case of my wife's license) - basically they are confirming that the license is valid and they have no issues in getting it renewed at another RTO.

But at our RTO, by mistake they asked us to fill-in a backlog entry form & submit to them. It was then that they realised that it has to be approved by Chennai RTO - they did email Chennai, but ofcourse no reply even to repeat emails. Then the RTO interviewed my wife to confirm genuineness of the license and since she is a govt employee, confirmed the entry on his risk. After that, it was a breeze and she got the new KL-issued license in few weeks.

Actually in Sarathi, when you enter your current licence number and if it isn't in their database, the site takes you to a backlog entry page where you can enter all details and get approval from issuing RTO. But I don't know whether all RTOs approve such requests with alacrity. Worth trying though.

If original RTO is in Maharashtra, the backlog entry page states that RTO in Maharashtra have offline process to enter backlog entry, and not via the backlog entry page. So it seems different states have different mechanisms for backlog. I was lucky that I got the backlog entry updated over email, where I had to CC the Transport Commissioner (Computer) in addition to the RTO offier of home RTO

Hi all,

I had my original license from Tamilnadu and currently live in Bangalore. After going through these posts, I thought it will be easier to renew in my hometown itself.

My license was not available online. So first I asked my Dad to visit the nearest RTO and apply to upload the License data online. It was done in a week. I was told now that the license is online, I can renew anywhere.

Now I was in a dilemma whether to renew in Bangalore or my hometown. After some thought, I decided to do it in my home town itself. But for that, I was told that my Aadhaar needs to have my hometown address (it had Bangalore address).

I applied for the address change online and got it changed to my hometown address (took 2 days).

I then applied online and got a slot. On the appointment day, I visited my home town. The appointment was at 10 AM. I took the application with the original DL and went through three counters. The first counter reviewed the application, the second counter verified the address proof (Aadhaar) and in the third counter, a photo was taken. Everything was over in 15 min.

By 1.30 PM, my license renewal was done and updated in the mParivaahan app. I was told that I can just show this as the DL and need not wait for phisical DL.

Overall a good experience.

After my complaint on pgportal 15 days, ago, my application got approved, printed and moved to the same state as yorus, "DISPATCH OF THE DL AND PSV BADGE", but I have not received the DL yet. I have again sent a reminder on pgportal. Fingers crossed.

Thank you, Sir! I sincerely hope you get it in a day or two. Must be on its way already. Fingers crossed.

Looks like the application status is not updated on a real time basis on Sarathi website. My application status still shows 'processing'. They might be doing it in batches (perhaps, date wise), as I did not complain on pgportal. It changed on its own.

I finally collected my renewed DL myself from KA01 RTO
After my complaint on pgportal, status had got approved, printed and dispatch in 24 hours. But even after 15 days, they never posted it. I raised a reminder on pgpotal but to no avail. Finally I visited RTO today during their DL slot of 2.30pm and told them it’s stuck in dispatch state. Initial counter guy who is assistant to superintendent lady asked my name for no reason. Maybe they remember who complained Then he sent me to neighbouring counter when I showed him application status on mobile. The lady at the counter asked me approval date and when I told that it was approved a month ago, she took out a bunch of DLs from her drawer and found mine. She said I had not attached envelope. I just politely said that I had attached. In my mind, I know either they misplaced the envelope or deliberately causing hassle (maybe because I did not go through agent or maybe because I complained). Because they also know they don’t accept applications without self stamped envelope. Anyways since I got the license, I was happy. I just had to write a plain paper application acknowledging receipt of DL.

Moral of the story:
1. Thanks to this thread and help from vharihar sir for telling about pgportal
2. Avoid KA-01 RTO if possible
3. I learnt how to be patient even when some government officer (ARTO) is humiliating me in public. Good lesson in maintaining calm

I have applied for change of address of my Delhi DL to KR PURAM RTO in Bangalore in June.

It has been stuck at ARTO NT since then and has not moved.

Now the predicament is that I have lost my original DL and do not have a copy! Will that be an issue?

also, I have raised a grievance in pgportal but not sure if I chose the correct department and category.

Can someone help me in these two questions?

Hi,

Should i ask my friend to visit Chennai RTO and apply to upload the License data online.
