What would be the right price for 2015 Polo TDI highline (doesn't have the touch screen system), single owner, 35k kms done and insurance valid till next year?

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi everyone,

I myself am a doctor and looking for a used diesel car which serve as a second car for highway runs. I already own an automatic WagonR for city driving.

I am looking for a good used diesel car in budget of 3.5 lakhs within Mumbai.
I found one Ford Figo TDCI, 2015 Titanium plus model, 24000 kilometers run at a dealer. He is quoting 4.75 lakhs. I offered 3.5 lakhs. What should be the right price for the car?

Even looked for used swift, swift dzire and i20 diesels. Most of the car I found are 2009 to 2011 models available with the dealers. I find the prices atrocious and highly inflated. Even private sellers are quoting similar to the dealer price after seeing the trend in olx or other used cars website.
I am aware of the value of the car because recently I sold my 2009 swift diesel for 2 lakhs which is fair and reasonable price.

Tried Truevalue, Mahindra First Choice and other organised car dealers. But prices they quote for a 7 year old cars are almost touching the ex-showroom prices when they were sold as new.

Which year swift or i20 diesel models should fall within my budget? I am specifically targeting 2013 or above models.

Any helpful information will be highly appreciated. Any information about reliable sources from where I could find a good car will be very useful.

Don't worry sir. You have quoted the right price.

But, few general suggestions from my side-
  • Cars with high resale value(Swift/i20/Innova/Wagon R/Alto/Ertiga D) are better avoided as a second hand purchase, unless it is a mouth-watering deal. My suggestion would be to stick to Figo, Punto or 1.5L Polo diesel.
  • It is always better to physically inspect the car and then give a quote, so that the seller is able to judge our interest in buying the car. Sellers quote unrealistic prices online and are low-balled by buyers and hence sellers ignore many online quotes. On the other hand giving a quote and negotiating after a physical inspection may lead to a successful deal.
  • Spare at least 10-20% of the purchase cost for repairs, maintenance etc. Even the best of the well maintained cars will eventually need it somewhere.
Unfortunately, a considerable time and effort has to be spent before we find the right car at the right price.

I personally haven't had an experience with Cars24 buying option, but the prices seemed a little realistic compared to other online avenues. Don't know about the offline sellers in Bombay.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

My friend came across a used Fiat Linea Classic Plus MJD from one his colleagues. Black 42000 Kms. Manufacturing year 2016. Hyderabad. First owner. Warranty still valid for about 3 months. No niggles, mint and fully stock condition. Company plastic covers on rear seats also not removed yet is what I was told. Owner looking to buy a auto SUV. What's the price he can pay for this? Owner just shared his interest to sell with his friends so no particular figure quoted by the owner yet.

Is buying a 2011-2012 Skoda Yeti 4X4 in NCR a sane decision ? If the going rate is around 4L (on higher side basis online calculator). If the 10 rule is kept in mind then only 2 yrs left, however if one can get some respite from the recent plea that centre has done to SC then can get about 7yrs of usage.

Primarily just need it to be an alternate to a lowered hatchback to be used as weekend trips or even to be used a family mover, considering have a family of 4. Higher GC, well built, good 2L engine, bigger storage space (don't need big SUV, as find them too large for my liking and need).

From what I know the running service isn't a big issue. The pain starts only if parts need replacement.

Since it is going to be used occasional (or maybe it will lead to increase in trip :-) ) I don't want to invest in a new car. A 4X4 2L engine + overall package if get in about 3.5-4L seems tempting. Been thinking for over 3-4 weeks and hence thought it's best to ask some of the experts here.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am interested in a A-star as a second car for our city runs! What would be a fair price considering it to be a discontinued model?

Only manual transmission, no AT variant, preferably VXI or ZXI.

Pls Help!

Cheers.

Seller probably knows that the market will rip out the value of the car as it is Black+Fiat. Hence, will be interested to sell only to mates.

From a buyer perspective, anything under 4L is a fair price.

A 1.45 lakh Kms driven 2016 Altis Diesel was been quoted at 9.5 lakhs. So assuming this one is almost a lakh less, an auto petrol but 5 year old should go about 8 lakhs. Anyways, with pre owned cars it all comes down to how you negotiate and the actual condition of the car.

How much is Nissan Sunny XL CVT - 2015, 57,100 Kms worth in Pune? Seller is asking ₹ 4,75,000, which I think is high.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

What would be a fair price for a Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8GX AT 7str Feb 2018 registered run about 50000 kms? The tyres were changed about a month/3000 kms back. It is owned by a family member so i know the complete history of the car and have driven it a few times. It is Karur/TN regd car.

What would be a fair price for a BMW X1 luxury line 2013 Mfg bought/registered in Bangalore in feb 2015 run about 73000 kms. Was serviced last month so next service is due in 11000kms. Some minor scratches but no dents. This is the facelifted version with the lighter steering and a ZF 8 speed gear box.Has extended warranty till Feb 2020

Usually, Ford cars depreciate 10-15% within first year of purchase. As Figo is the fastest selling car in Ford fleet, you may be able to negotiate a good price for it.
