Nice price for a 3 to 4 year old L&K Laura. Check the DSG though because if memory serves me right the DSG's got sorted post 2009 but I would prefer to ask an expert this question.
Be sure to ask for the vehicle's full service history !

Thanks. I'm also a little skeptical with 2009 dsgs. By the way, I'm a big fan of your yeti thread. I wish yeti had an AT choice..

Is this a facelifted Laura..? this would have 1.9tdi engine( as the 2Liter CR Engine came post 2010 April) and the problematic DSG. Need to check the transmission thoroughly checked before you close the deal.

If not the face-lifted version try for around 9 Lacs.

The older look l Laura came with. 1.9 engine. The post facelift 2009 model came with a 2.0 PD engine

Beg to differ .:Shockked:
The facelifted Laura was Launched in May 2009 and continued to have the same Pump Duse 1.9 Engine from earlier version. This produced 105bhp

It was only in March 2010- due to Bharat Stage4 Norms -that Skoda introduced the Common Rail Engines in Laura. This makes 110bhp in the manual Versions and 140bhp in auto versions.

Saw the car and dropped it due to bunch of misleading statement. It's a 2008 model with 80k done. Hard to find a low run car that I can trust in used car market.
I'm seeing 2008 doctor owned civic with 30k on odo. It's through Honda auto Terrance. I'm told it's in immaculate condition and price quoted is 7 lacs. It's s-at. Let me see if this car is the car for me.

He was talking about the L&K Variant.
Post facelift (2009 onwards ) the L&K Variant Came with 2.0 PD engine producing 140 PS. The Same engine was also used in Superb till 2010( and also earlier in Passat).
But now whole of the Laura Diesel LineUp comes with 2.0 CR TDI engine s with 110 (for manuals) and 140 (for automatics)

Hi Team! As am on a look out for a used hatchback I came across a couple of i10 AT's clocked around 7k kms 2011 models for 3.75L! Now do we call this a Brio AT effect? The Brio AT launch has for sure lured in customers Looking out for automatic hatchbacks from its rival i10. So does this mean the used i10 AT have taken a hit? I think it's worth purchasing them if we don't have a problem visiting the gas stations frequently! Whats your say?

from what I have heard , i10 ATs are v.v thirsty.

So it is your call.

Believe it or not , a Corolla AT will give you equal or better FE and is extremely easy to drive.

Hi guys,

I have come across a used Civic which I am yet to check out but here are the details:

Model: Honda Civic VMT with Sunroof
Make: Mar, 2011
Done: 38000 Kms
Asking Price: 8.25L
Extended Warranty- Till 2015

Primary Concerns:

1. Civic has been/will shortly be discontinued so how badly would the resale get affected 4-5 yrs down the line. Also spare parts availability/price.

2. A major scheduled servicing coming up at 40,000 kms which I believe would cost about Rs. 12-13K

3. A small concern, but, it has already done 38000 kms in about 20 months.

4. Current Registration is in Haryana, would need to shell out more for getting it registered in Delhi. Any idea how much?

Would appreciate any help on the following:

1. How much should I pay for this one?

2. Considering that it is under warranty till 2015, should I still get it check by an authorized Honda service center?

3. Any thing else that I should look out for..

Thanks.

The fuel efficiency of I10 AT would be around 10-11 kmpl in city traffic. Hope this helps in taking a decision.

Hi BHPians,

I am scouting for a car for my dad in Delhi and have come across the following specimen:

Model: Wagon R Vxi 1.0
Make: Aug 2010
Location: Delhi
Kms Done: 25000
Asking Price: 2.7 L
Reason for sale: Owner going abroad
Exterior Condition: Few scratches on front and rear bumpers but nothing major
Interior Condition: The car needs a thorough clean up.

The owner is known to my dad and stays in the same society. I am inclined to negotiate the price to 2.5 L
Does this look like a good buy?

Hi Arup,

I tried to answer your questions below. Hope it benefits you.

Answers to Primary Concerns:

1. Spare parts wont be an issue with Honda's. But resale value can be a problem. Honda has made it clear that it will not be discontinuing the Civic.
2. Yes, the 40k service is a major one, which you should face soon.
3. This is the only negative that i see in this deal.
4.

Response for 'Would appreciate any help on the following:'

1. The asking price is reasonable. Anything on top of it getting chopped off, will be in your advantage.
2. Yes, you need to get the word from Honda on the car condition.
3. The T-BHP PDI on used car need to be done.

2.5L seems to be a decent price for this Wagon R. 2.7L though seems to go into the higher end of the spectrum, ideally you'd want to get this car in less than 2.5, try and bargain upto 2.25-2.3, anything under 2.4L and you would have got yourself a pretty good deal. Since the owner is known to your dad personally, i guess you would be assured of the product you are getting.

Even though 2.5L is an okayish price (neither too high, nor too low) still i'd say try and bargain to under 2.5 (if the owner is supposed to go abroad very soon then i guess he would budge lol:)

Good Luck mate !!

Hello Arup,

1. Spare Parts will not be a problem at all for next couple of years. Be assured with Honda in this regard. Yes. resale value of high end cars is on lower side. In Mumbai we are getting 5 years Honda Civics for Rs. 4.5 lacs.
2. Yes. The 40,000 service will cost you approx Rs. 15,000. Try to negotiate the price based on this fact.
3. 38000 kms on ODO for Honda vehicle is nothing. Just ensure that the Car is well maintained & serviced regularly.
4. Asking price of approx Rs. 8 - Rs. 8.25 lacs is good deal for 1.5 year old Honda Civic.
5. Regarding warranty ensure it is valid for subsequent (second) owner.
6. Other points - check for service history & no claim bonus on existing Insurance policy.

Hello Mr. M R K,

Rs. 2.5 lacs for Aug 2010 Maruti WagonR is really a good price. Also as the current owner is staying in same society you are ensured of peace of mind. If the owner is not ready to settle at Rs. 2.5 lacs, Rs. 2.6 lacs also will be a good deal.

But since he is going abroad, he will definitely settle for Rs. 2.5 lacs.

Thanks,
