I think carwale valuation is quite ok, you can expect 1.80 to 1.90 if you get a direct buyer. Dealers will quote quite less.

Ya. I saw it yesterday as well. My only hitch is that its 10 years old. Anyways I have called the seller and we will be meeting this weekend. Will update on the condition then.

Also, if any of the experts here can help on this - just wanted to know how is the Palio 1.9D compared to the petrol 1.6? Does it have more niggles and problems or is still as rock solid as its petrol counterpart. Especially in terms of the engine.

Hey guys, I had the following two options to choose from in Delhi:
1) Black 330i 2011
Done 8000km or so. Asking price is 27 L Negotiable

2) Silver 320d 2011 Highline
Done 15000 km or so. Asking price is 28L which is in my opinion far too high.

For the Dec 2011 Fabia 1.6MPI, I had mentioned earlier following are the quotes from both the sites.
Carwale.com
Fair- 4.95 lakhs, Excellent - 5.6 lakhs.
Checkprices.in
Fair - 2.95 lakhs, Excellent - 3.5 lakhs.

That's a full 2.1 comparing the excellent condition car prices.
The car is in very decent condition and I dont mind paying upto 5 lakhs. Imagine a depreciation of 50% in 6months

So i go with Carwale.com

Cheers.
D
I checked at Carwale.com & checkprices.com for a June 2009 Toyota Fortuner 2009 White - run 43 K kms.

Carwale quotes - 16.57 - 16.91 Lakhs
checkprices quotes - 19.03 Lakhs

Does checkprices.com have a bias towards Toyota?

Punto has a bad resale. Recently, I have seen Punto 90s exchange hands in mumbai in range of 5.5-6.2 lac (OTR for new is approx. 8.5). you should be able to get something around 5 lac for your car.

if you are spending that amount, why don't you buy new? the existing 3 series is an outgoing model and there are some mouth watering deals being offered by dealers in NCR. I got a discount quote of 3 lacs on CE today and discount of 5 lacs on dynamic model. Petrol should have much more discount if dealers have any models left. Or one can opt for zero interest scheme if one wishes.

Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G
2008 September
11000 kms driven in almost 4 years.
Bangalore registration
Initially owned by a company and then transferred to current owner. Not sure the current owner is second owner or first owner. Need to check this.
Asking price 9lakhs.

How much this is worth?
Company leased and then later transferred to owner cars. What are the possible issues/concerns here.

Regards
Rex

Don't know about the price in Bangalore, but in Kerala 2009 models with approx 25k kms on the odo is being offered for 7.5L.

Hey Rex, its far too high an asking price in a diesel dominated market like ours! My dad's car which was leased by the company and transferred to his name later, was treated like a second hand car while selling, due to the name transfer. Try using this point to negotiate. Also tell him that the 2008 model is no longer in production and negotiate even further.
So unless you are too keen on this particular car, 9L is way too much I feel.

Is the price okay if car does not have ABS. Would the braking be very bad without ABS?
A low mileage VDi with ABS is like a spotting a unicorn. The waiting time for a VDi ABS in 2007/8 was around a year, so not many were easily available.
The braking is not great on stock tyres so an upgrade to a 185/195mm wide tyre is a good idea.

Both seem priced higher to me considering the model change. Since it is a recent vehicle of 11 Year the month too will impact pricing as also the service pack being bought or not. Finally diesel will hold value a lot better than petrol. Kms of both are too similar on a larger scale to command a price differential on that count.

Hey mate, would suggest you to stay away from the 1.9D. Model is really old now and there aren't any well maintained cars anymore. Also, the 1.9D is a poor performer despite a big engine. The 1.6 is sheer brilliance and also good models ( STILE) are available in the market. It has a rock solid body, awesome suspension and steering and a fantastic engine. My vote is for the 1.6 anyday

How much should I pay for a well-maintained 9-year-old Palio 1.2 ELX (ps, all 4 pw, etc., etc.). The quoted price is 70 K. I'm thinking 50 to 60 if the car is in immaculate condition, as claimed by the seller. Also, how difficult is it to find spares and maintain an old Palio in a city like Mumbai or Pune?

If you are that keen for a Palio, I would suggest you look for newer models, like say 2006/7 onwards with a clean record. @50k this may look like a great deal, but you may have problems later which will lead to spending more. This money can be used up front for getting a better car. If you still have a tight budget, I'd suggest finding yourself a workhorse like Maruti.
