Looking to buy my first car. Owner has said 4.8L, but is open to negotiation.
Hopefully this is a BS6 car. At this time, Ignis was getting decent discounts, and at has been 4 years. Considering depreciation and model. The max should not be more than 4L.

Had checked with Honda for new car offer. They are offering 17.9 on phone. Assuming this well go to 17.7 post negotiation.
I recommend you to stay from this car @anish. Why would anyone sell their 8 month old car? If the owner is moving abroad or is selling due to some emergency, please make a thorough inspection of the car.

So if that's the case, then 15.5L for a 8 month Elevate seems to be mouth-watering. But still try to negotiate a bit more

Just 2 lakhs discount isn’t enough. There should be a minimum 4 lakhs discount to make it worth buying this vs a new one.

It’s 4 years old. Don’t pay more than 3.5 lakhs.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I came across a deal to buy a used Tiguan, which is September 2022 registered. It has around 16000 on the odometer, single owner, full service history available with no issues.

The on-road price at the time of purchase is 42 lakhs(Bangalore). What is the fair price for this car as it is difficult to find similar examples in popular used car sites?

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I plan to change my wife's Toyota Yaris VX CVT, less than 28k done. Full-service records are available. 2018 made 2019 registered. Jh no. Red colour. No complaints or any issues with the car, zero dep insurance. She wants a smaller car and I need to buy a seven-seater for family and dogs.

What should be my expectations?

OTR price in 2022 is 42L
Apply 10% depreciation for 2023 - Rs. 42L - Rs 4.2L = Rs. 37.8L
Apply 10% depreciation for 2024 - Rs 37.8L - Rs 3.78 = Rs. 34.02 L or say 34L.

The car has run 16000 Kms in 2 years. About 8000 Kms per year at an average of 670 kms per month or say 22 Kms per day (average). No deduction here.

Next is the maintenance and upkeep of the car. If the car is exceptionally maintained (some say, like brand new, just out of showroom condition), then add say 1 Lakh here. If the maintenance is average, then deduct 1 L here.

Then the market supply & demand. Is the car a fast moving car, like a Swift or Baleno or WagonR that retains a high market value or if its a car no one would buy, even at a discount? A pre-owned Taigun is perhaps not a highly in demand model, though I am not sure. You can subtract another 2L as it's not a fast selling car or a car in great demand.

Any brand premium?.VW not much. Toyota Yes.
Petrol or Diesel? If diesel car, then NGT sword is dangling everywhere. That adds to the depreciation. You may not get full 15 years (13 years to be precise) with the car. Then counter argument is diesel engines give better fuel efficiency and have better torque. So addition or deduction is debatable here.

So that brings to the following. 34L +1L (well maintained) -2L = 33L

Start the bargain at 30L, settle at 33L

Guys, these figures are just letting my thoughts fly. Take them with a pinch of salt. Further, Other factors to consider are urgency / desperation to sell, accident history, number of owners, compelling reason to sell etc.

Noticed a similar discussion in a VW wp group. The comments there were that MY23 cars are being sold by KA showrooms for as low as 34L OTR this year, so you might want to consider that. Also do check E20 compliance

Man, ₹22L for 5 year old Innova is too much, plus it has run 1L+ kms. That's why buying a used Toyota doesn't make sense atleast financially, because depreciation is a joke for these cars. Try to get the car for ₹20L or get a New Crysta!

Agree with @ashkamath. 32-34 lakhs is the sweet spot for a 2 year old Tiguan.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

What's the ideal price range for June 2011, Delhi Registered Verna Fludic SX Petrol Model, 95K Driven. It runs much more smoother than many current cars, but had to let it go due to NGT 15 years rule.

I don't think MY23 stock is anymore available, at least in Bangalore. According to one of the VW sales advisor, VW has added E20 compliance only in 2023.
