Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

This looks like the body kits advertised in the last few pages of printed Autocar/Overdrive mags. Looks cheap & ugly!

The XYLO needs a complete redesign of the ugly front profile. Period!

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

I was impressed with the alloys of Xylo from the day of its release. But now the face lifted body kit with the front skirt and side cladding gives a perfect finish for the alloys. The machine looks good with its new mask, hope it will be a demanding competitor in the SUV/MUV market again.

The body kit makes it look like a Xylo with a two day stuble!!

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

So, they have put a skirt on an elephant? Does a skirt make an elephant look beatiful?

Tell me guys, the Innova and Xylo sea the same number of people? Yet the Innova has more space inside including the luggage space behind the third row, and overall has a smaller exteriors than the XYLO? Why can't indian designers/engineers do better than a Toyota model that was launced like 10 years ago? I am not even discussing the ugliness factor/price etc which can be subjective but just the interiors space available vs the exterior bulk.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

Don't like it - was never a fan of plastic body cladding.

If I could improve my Xylo's looks, this is what I'd do -

1. Redesign front grill & headlight cluster
2. More flare on the wheel arches with wider tires (for a wider stance/appearance)
3. Mount the spare wheel on a separate swing on the rear-door
4. Make roof-rails & rear spoiler standard across variants
5. Two tone paint scheme

Cheers.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

I too, think that mahindra should consider re-designing the xylo.
Though it is a great car and a tough competitor for the Toyota innova, the looks do not appeal to anyone at the first sight.
Just adding a body kit, does not make it look better.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

At first look I was even not able to differentiate it from regular Xylo. After staring for 10-15 seconds, I figured out those body-kits.

This is going in my mind since the launch of Logan. They are copy and pasting alot of things from other cars. After your post I am more confident now.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

My take on looking at the images - Earlier, Xylo was an ugly looking vehicle, now, its like a MACHO-ugly !
M&M should seriously give some thought to do some changes around the corners to avoid all-rounded corners to give a better box shape. May be, then, cladding makes a better sense. I am not saying Tata Grande MKII is of good shape and design, but, definitely better looking/road presence as compared to Xylo.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

I think the XYLO looks good. The body kit makes it look like more of a city slicker.

The XYLO is a design that grows on you with time.

The problem that MAHINDRA is facing is that they chose to tread the road not trodden often - They first designed the insides of the vehicle and then the outside

Like the joke someone said "By the time MAHINDRA came to designing the back of the SCORPIO, they had spent all their budget" - Something similar must have happened when they designed the outside after desigining the insides

MAHINDRA is fitting the MDi Engine in the XYLO with jump seats at the rear and smaller size tyres. What this has done is help them knock off the price and knock-out the competition

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

Goes on to prove that nothing can really work on this vehicle. It needs a complete restyling. It needs to be less tall, may be a bit wider, without slab sides, headlights that do not look like garden focus lamps, grill that grins.

Why did M&M make such a design when TATA could hire an iDEA 10 years ago. In my opinion, when you do not have the capability, imitate or pay some fair fees. And even after creating the Scorpio which I like even today, why this? I do not know, if any one is proud of this child in M&M really.

I still remember, the sly smile of the "world renowned" photographer from the west who said "it is an interesting vehicle".

BH.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

Bought the body kits for my new Celebration Edition Xylo. They are front and back body skirts alone. Comes as a 6 separate pieces. Cost is Rs14,567.

Dealer made a deal and gave me Rs3000 as discount.

It has to be painted in the color which we decide, either body color or any desired color we like.

Painting charge @ M & M Service: Rs6000/-
Painting charge @ Local Painters: Rs1500/-

So given it for painting will be ready in a day or two. Will post some pic when fitted.

Re: Mahindra's new body kit for the xylo.

Today everything has been done.

Fitted the body kit, Front & back Skirts in a local Tinkering and Paint shop @ Rs600.

The persons there where very patience and done their work well.

It took 4hrs of tire working with some drilling (as the body kit or the cars body doesn't have any pre-punctured holes to fit the skirts, all the holes should me man made).

Have a look...

Oh dear God. The car itself is so ugly, this modification is like putting lipstick on a pig. Don't like it at all.
