Mahindra is launching Kornado and Rexton Sangyong

AHMEDABAD: Auto major Mahindra and Mahindra today said it will launch two SUV models — Kornado and Rexton — from its Ssangyong Motor Company Limited (SYMC) portfolio by next year.

"We will be launching two SUV's of Ssangyong-Kornado and Rexton-in Indian market by next year end," M&M President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Pawan Goenka said.

The company recently announced that it has signed a definitive agreement with SYMC to acquire 70 per cent stake in the ailing South Korean auto maker for USD 463 million (about Rs 2105 crore).

"The next step will be for the creditors to approve this deal," Goenka said adding the money that the company will be paying by January-end will be used to pay-off the creditors.

Then, there would be about two months of processing time before way is paved for the final deal, he said.

"We are confident of the deal to get over in March," Goenka told PTI

Sangyong Motors is a premier manufacturer of sports utility vehicles (SUV) and recreational vehicles (RV).

Lets hope these vehicles are not typical quirky Korean designs else M&M will continue with its reputation of having the worst styling dept in India.

Mahindra SsangYong Kornado (means Korean Tornado??) :

I think for M&M it will be a profitable business to launch SsangYong Korando (not Kornado as mentioned above ) and Rexton with competitive prices . Korando is a contraction of "Korea Can Do". I saw these 2 SUV's on C&B where SVP talked about these , in terms of looks I think they are good and just need complete back for Service from M&M.

Actually it means "can do". Or in this case it means "korea can do".

both kornado and rexton are good suv .this week's car and bike on ndtv show featured these suvs.you can check the site to have a look at them.only thing will be if they are brought as ckd or cbu and what will be the price of these

Ssangyong is a very exiting acquisition by the SUV gaint M&M.

This certain will help M&M to get the much valued global footprint. Would now be interesting to see what kind of synergies emerge out of this union.

Ssangyong technology will also help M&M enter challenging markets like US et al.

It would all be about pricing. If they can get it right, it would be a sweet for M&M.

Guys, its not Kornado. It's the ssangyong Korando

I had seen a Rexton in Australia (last year) and it looked a very capable SUV with some good road presence.

SsangYong.s are really capable SUV.s with Mercedes M class engines both in Petrol and Diesel.Not so refined, but VFM. MM can put them just above the Scorpios and Xilo.s , but still value for money compared to other japanese and Korean SUV.s

When i saw the names, i felt they were going to be SsangYong. Quite a change from the Scoprios and Boleros we are used to

The Korando is a good looking vehicle. Lets hope M&M assembles the car in India and prices it smartly.

In addition to that, in India, they will have the Rs 7.5 lakh- Rs 30 lakh SUV market covered airtight.

I would look forward to these vehicles
they are pretty good from all accounts

so the choice of 4x4 SUV's for regular joe's is hotting up!! Am glad. Truly.
