re: Tata Merlin - Safari replacement? *UPDATE* Uncovered Pic on pg34 & pg41

Guys can any one suggest the TML to deliver Merlin 4x4 with A/T tires. Probably they can test the options like yoko or michellin in on-road & off-road conditions.

I am saving money to book the Merlin on the launch day itself.

In all probability none of these big manufacturers will ever consider niche requests of this kind. they dont even have sometimes enough flex to order a colour that one likes so asking them for AT tyres etc is as good as asking for the moon.

Why can't they outsource one?
Or flip from one in their JLR stable.

Another article on the new Safari ->Tata Safari Merlin 2011 SUV could be launched in June! | Indian Cars & Motorcycles Blog
It Says 'INR 12-12.5 Lakh for the fully loaded top end version'

that could be a game changer. Cannot express my excitement

hello friends,

Happened to be in the most happening part of pune for the best part of this month and hear from some sources that the Merlin would be launched before August and not before june.
Also as for the two different grills I have seen (One is the grill seen this post and the other one for which no photo is available. Never mind it looks Yuck. its my opinion others view may differ) i didnt had the opportunity to see the Yuck grilled vehicle.
Also it seems that it Merlin may come with same aria engine, tires and alloys. I guess it also come with two tone seats.

Sooy folks no photos

Barath, Its contradictory ! You say, in your opinion the other grill is yucky ! At the same time, you also mentioned "i didnt had the opportunity to see the Yuck grilled vehicle."
Thats OK, I understand you havent seen it yet !

Btw, ARIA is with the same SAFARI engine, but not the other way

Prem.

Hi Prem,

sorry that my comment caused confusions. Its that i have seen the other vehicle during my visit to pune in January itself.I didnt happen to see it during this visit. As you know during Jan every year, they will have a display of all their upcoming models (of course you cannot go very close to get into every details) for theTop people to see.

Hi.
I do not know whether it can be disclosed or not, but I saw two prototypes of some a small car (i didnt ask for the name though). By a small car I mean slightly smaller than indica, besides merlin and many trucks.

Other than the above I also saw a Jaguar in "lavender (or) dull violet" colour. Never believed such a colour existed in a car and that too in a jaguar which was a horrible sight. But the exhaust note of that Jaguar was simply mind blowing. That Jaguar was being used by some top management guy.

re: Tata Merlin - Safari replacement? *UPDATE* Uncovered Pic on pg34 & pg41

Yesterday I saw TATA Testing convoy on Pune Bangluru Highway. I was in the bus and suddenly one by one red number plates whooshed from bus. Convoy was mainly Aria's but one vehicle was camouflaged and that was safari. Oh man, presence was mind blowing, It was showing lot of character of matured safari even under camouflage.

Convoy passed very fast before my phone cam is ready. Safari said good bye to convoy in between and took sudden u turn.

Friends, I am sure Tata will have lot to offer in new safari. I am waiting for launch now...

Yup thats right you plan to be on the new years eve and you can see lots. Every year the top people visit pune to see the progress on the new projects. Its really scoop master paradise. But there is really lots of security and wont let you anywhere near any cars. But you stay in proper location and you really get to see the cars close for few minutes.

My 4x4 was delivered with Bridgestone HT, and I have seen some 4x2 delivered with Apollo hawkz AT tires.
So I guess its more of a fluke than by design
