I still doubt the effectiveness of the navigation system in India. Its still not popular and don't know if it really matters a lot. No doubt that I20 offers excellent equipments, but Hyundai should also work to solve the repeated issues reported by the I20 owners.

We have ready-available GPS in India - ppl everywhere. If you have doubts about any route, just stop and ask someone and they will guide you lol: Why pay 55k for a system? Just Kidding.

IMHO 55k's is a little too much for this system. Not worth it.

I just checked out MapMyIndia's site and they seem to have a lot of information on their maps. Much more local info (e.g. Shops / Offices / ATMs / residential complexes) than say, Google Maps.

I do think their search has a lot of scope for improvement, though.

In india its best to rely on local info than GPS. On our recent trip to Karnataka and Goa we had GPS but most trip was covered with local info. Locals are the ones who know the road conditions and traffic conditions. since it was a post monsoon trip locals were more helpful then GPS or maps printed from google. :)

I use my Nokia E72 GPS it works like charm in mumbai and it also has voice guidance. Its offline so no data use required. I will post some pics soon.

I doubt they'd really charge 50K+ for such a system....hopefully.
But if it's anywhere close to 30K, I'm sold.
Just another great reason to go for an i20 :).

Whats the confirmed price for this AVN, since it is optional on Asta models.

^^Yes, the link I posted on the last page has the ex-showroom prices. The normal Asta is 5.75 Lakhs in Delhi, while this one is 6.30!

I called up a dealer here in Ahmedabad and upon enquiring i was told that the final prices are yet not released from the company. They said that company has launched this as optional to get a feedback from market and the normal Asta will be available always.

When i pushed him a little more, he indicated 33k to 38k for the system. but no final confirmation.

I am using GPS navigation using my N95 (with google maps) for the last couple of years. So far done four long trips. Drove back and forth from Chennai to Hyderabad couple of months back. Haven't asked for direction to anyone in the entire trip.

But if your drive goes beyond NH and SH, better to confirm with locals as i found the routes are not accurate in couple of places. Also the map really helps in driving metros and second tier cities. I always prepare the route in my PC and will load in mobile map using the 'google layers'.

33K sounds borderline reasonable, I'd go for it. 38 K is too high.

Anyways lets wait till Hyundai gives us official confirmation :).

55K additional is a waste. The same system can be brought for 19K from mapmyindia. But its not integrated like this one. I thought the audio system was bluetooth. Looks like the bluetooth is on the PND.

I rather buy the system separately. Anyway, a nice option for unsuspecting owners and people who want that factory fitted neat look.

I guess after the Aria, the i20 will be the 2nd car in india to come factory fitted with a GPS. Well, a Korean Indian actually, but segment firsts none the less.

Makes one wonder when the self-declared premium Japs would begin offering stuff like this.
Add to that, the 6 airbags; the i20 really did change the hatchback space like no other car has!
