I watched a review of ANHV on Bloomberg by Autocar. On handling front not much comments were made. What surprised me was that the car( diesel variant) despite having better torque and power figures, doesnt have the same explosive boom of acceleration as it was in current Verna- rather its a gentler more sure footed and gradual acceleration- which as per him is a good change. I anyday would love the take off like feel in the current verna in 2nd gear acceleration. Hope the new one doesnt disappoint too much. Car looked pretty good in the video. Looks are pretty subjective though.

@jkdas, you are absolutely correct. It appears to be a biased one. Well, cannot help so have stopped watching two of the shows. I just know one thing that this is a wonderful car and it's expected to do well.

I remember the movie 'Ghost Rider' where in the rider cruises 'firing' up the travel path. I can see 'ANHV' doing similar stuff once launched.

Well, am I becoming very imaginative sometimes

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

I got a call from the OMR Hyundai Dealer today as I had registered in the site.

My first call was from the call center, this one was from the Dealer himself.
He gave me his mobile number I asked him for the details of the car to check if he was aware.
He mentioned about the car and the variants correctly . I asked him for test drive, he mentioned by May 1 the car would be available for test drive and that bookings were open.
He also added that the price would be in the INR 7-9L bracket. Thats interesting.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Finally colors confirmed- Black, White, Stone Beige, Purple, Carbon grey, Red, Sleek Silver & Ice Silver. Launch on 10 May- Vehicles are expected to arrive earlier. Allotments will be done directly by the Hyundai ( perhaps due to good number of pre-bookings). I chose purple- dont even know how it would look but had red Viva and biege Verna and few silver, white and black cars in the past. So something different. Perhaps normal blue of i20 is replaced by ice silver , it may have tinge of blue.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

I think we have talked enough on Handling and steering feedback. What I understand as a layman is that if you need great handling you have to balance/compromise on ride quality and suspension. If you need greater steering feedback then the steering will be tighter which is a bane in the city driving (to me).

I care more about what Verna is going to provide in the new car - light steering for city driving, comfortable suspension for indian road condition and interior space.

Even after driving 15 years I still don't understand what kind of feedback I need to get from steering to drive a car. I guess these factors are important only for spirited drivers as I never try to go over 100 kmph on curves and never cross 120 kmph in straight lanes regardless of the car. If my family needs a thrilling drive then I take them to go-carting

Not all super hit cars are great handlers in India. If that is the case then Fiesta should be selling in 10-15K per month regularly.

So, common man in india doesn't bother much about the handling but they look for great package in a car with decent handling and safety features.

I think Verna lovers don't need to worry about the car. It's going to be super hit with this great package if they price it right.

I also think too much has been discussed about handling of the car. I suppose the handling if Verna will be acceptable and comparable to cars of this segment. The feature list of verna also looks attractive. All we need to know now is the pricing details. Before driving it I think it is not sensible to comment about handling and steering feedback. I do not trust the auto magazines reviews.

if this is the durability we are seeing in a car , then Hyundai would be a benchmark. And best part is that its naturally air conditioned like a convertible and guess almost nil service costs.

Went to Jaybharat Hyundai and they have no brochures or anything but said that the car will come to show rooms anytime between 10th and 12th May. All they did was take my phone number down and said they will call as soon as the car arrives.

Looks like the launch is around the corner now - someone saw the car in its undisguised form in the Chennai - Bangalore highway last weekend.

Not totally true. Try the Fiat twins - Linea/Punto.
Awesome ride quality and great handling. So, this is a combination which can be achieved.
Surprisingly, the outgoing Verna has a bad ride quality and terrible handling - a combination Hyundai will do good not to repeat.

If they can get it right along with the pricing, this can be the new C segment king.

Congrats ! I think we had a pic of a purple car and it looks beautiful !! Should be pretty nice on the road as well.

I am sorry, but you got it completely wrong !! Try a Wagon R at speed of 80 on a highway and try to move the steering with a single finger - you will understand what steering feedback and what is handling !

Price the Fiesta equivalent to Dzire and you will see good volumes [double / triple of what is sellin right now]. By the way even Dzire sells around 10K only I believe.

+1. I would add the Fiesta/ Figo also into this.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

In the hands of a city dweller, who obeys speed limit rules and drives in the less spirited way, the features, looks, space would be of more importance. And I personally feel that there are quite a lot of people who fall in that category. So the Verna has all the prospects of becoming the new C segment king if priced right!
