Wow, specs are amazing, I wish handling is taken care in this.

Diesel was a beast anyways, Petrol also heading towards the same. Eager to see this beauty in flesh

A Diesel Auto is what I am most interested in.
24th Feb 2011??

Isn't the SX4 Diesel being launched on the 28th Feb? This is going to be fun. The C Segment war is heating up. If we go by the specs mentioned in the few posts above, VW, Honda and Fiat should be very worried...

For complete details, including the brochure:

Hyundai Accent | Hyundai Motor Company

The details are more of generic nature here; there could be some country-specific modifications.

Also, I picked this from Rush Lane:

Experts suggest Hyundai to launch the new Verna with both 1.4L diesel and 1.6L petrol engine options with 6 speed manual or four speed automatic transmission option.

Hope this is not true and we'll have a 5-/6-speed AT.

IMO, the new Verna could really affect the ANHC and the Corolla D4D sales. But, the diesel Sx4 might not be affected much as there will be a big difference in terms of pricing.

This is great news, a brilliant car round the corner !! The one concern I have is that would have hopefully addressed the suspension setup. If they can match the handling to VW levels - which I doubt, but if they can, Vento better start looking at shorter delivery schedules & discounts !!
And look at bringing in 1.2 L TSI engine. VW needs stronger presence in the petrol segment. Unlike earlier times, since this time VW is committed to make it big in India, I will love to see them react to this. I guess India has warmed up to 'German is premium' thing now. They need to reduce the waiting period theough.

Honda has been cornered again and again, first by Vento, and now by Verna. However, it keeps on selling cars after cars. It will still sell.

SX4 coming with diesel as well. It needed to. Maruti now sells in three fuel types: Petrol, Diesel and CNG. It will also sell in decent numbers.

New Fiesta coming in with Diesel and Petrol versions. Come soon dude.

The one car I am really worried about now is Linea. The Diesel is underpowered (it was ok at the time of launch but it clearly pales in wake of fresh competition now). The base petrols have an even anemic engines. The T-Jet is fine but how many Indians will buy a 'Petrol FIAT'? 1.6 MJD and an interior upgrade. Since I can't see that happening for another year, its tough times ahead.

Abhi_Automobile if you find the Fiat Linea underpowered then the Toyota Corolla Diesel is a bullock cart! Verna has all the things required to be the segment leader , only if launched with all the goodies.

Yes, you are damn right! It indeed is a bullock cart. The only reasons why Toyota can get away with providing an anemic 1.4L D-4D engine and price it over a lac over the 1.8L VVT-i is coz its TOYOTA. Almost all Indians can buy anything that has engine and tyres and has either TOYOTA or HONDA written over it. While these guys make good cars, their brand equity in India is disproportionate to their quality (and to their brand equity around the world).

No such luck for Linea. A FIAT has to be 'extra special' to succeed in India whereas an 'better than average' Honda/Toyota can easily succeed.

Anyway coming back to the point: The Verna looks cracker. I hope they have sorted the underwhelming interiors and dud handling (most Indians give two hoots about the handling anyway; just make it average or better)

24th? It may still all the game of SX4 diesel. Especially with it's tremendous power and new generation looks! God bless competition. Price it right, and one diesel beast may land in my garage (and indeed in my signature too )

But the question is, is 24th the confirmed launch?

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Is it really going to be launched on 24th of this month some one please confirm.

Well then there is a lot more reason to postpone the booking of a sx4 diesel.

The new verna's advantages over the sx4 diesel is that verna will have an auto option and if its going to be a six speed auto box than the shifts will be lot smooth and power delivery will be a lot linear.

Further the fit and finish and the build quality will be leagues ahead of maruti. My i20 crdi has clocked more than 43k kms and till date there is not even a single rattle though i drive on the worst road conditions.

Only thing Hyundai requires to do is give us good ride and handling from the car and price the vehicle competetively if not cheap.

Please through more light on the issues of features, specs, prices and launch date.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Discussed with the car driver (test / production ready car), as per him the lunch date is FEB-24th.

kindly refer my previous post.

The car was a Auto transmission gear. and "AUTO" monogram is just above the right-hand side front wheel.(between right front door and wheel arch.)

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

I asked a Hyundai mechanic in Aurangabad and he said it will be 1st week of March. Lets hope they price it right. 2011 Hyundai Avante/Elantra starts from 6.5 lacs in the US

and I bet a 2011 Hyundai Verna diesel will start from 9 lacs in our country :(
