My next car?

After a lot of dilly-dallying that I went through multiple times over the past year with a lot of test drives, I have come close to finalizing on the perfect sedan for my needs, the Ford Fiesta 1.6SXI.

For some reason, the Fiesta never figured in my list earlier, the primary reasons being the lack of airbags and the relative lack of legroom at the rear. While the first complaint was addressed a while back, I got convinced that the second one was a non-issue after talking to a friend of mine who recently bought a 1.6Zxi. The fact is that the people who are going to be in the rear seat are my kids, mother and in-laws. All of them are 5'3" or below, which means that legroom is never going to be an issue for them.

Once those were removed, I started looking at the Fiesta petrol related posts more closely and boy, was it an eye opener. The passion for the car among owners is second only to the Fiat models. I called Lathangi Ford for a test drive last week and was bowled over. Today, I took another test drive and have finalized the deal. I will be making the payment early next week.

My new car is the 2009 Civic

Dear BHPians,

Torn between the Laura Ambiente and the new Civic-V/MT, I settled for the Civic due to the following considerations:

1. Looks (Laura look smaller on road)
2. Interior space ("Felt" more space inside the Civic)
3. Color (Laura did not have any interesting (read "Punjabi") choices)
4. Good music system (Even Laura has a good one)
4. Respectable milleage (1900 kms on, 13.3 kmpl)
5. Service network (Honda is all over in Delhi, they have two service stations in north-west Delhi where I live--Pitampura)
6. Excellent attitude and promptness of the showroom guys (Ring Road Honda, Peeragarhi).
7. Resale value (Honda is better (best!), as told to me by the dealer to whom I sold my old Hyundai Accent)

So, there we are! Honda Civic its is!!

Hi,

While it is very very early to even think of a new car ( bought my new one in June 2009), I can realistically think of two very dissimilar cars :

1. A Mini ( if it gets introduced and is priced 'reasonably' in India in five years' time)
2. One of a diesel 5/diesel A4/Passat CC

This after GTO advises me on the risks associated with owning 'hyperengineered' German cars, with too much electronics

I have some time to go, in any case...

Regards

Any help?

Out in the UAE, I'll be buying a VW Scirocco as my daily driver next year. Running an RS6 attracts unwanted attention from boy racers in their pudgy Hondas and Fords every single day. Over in the US, my 335 is about to find a new home and along with that cash, I'll trade in my Cayman and purchase a V8 Vantage. (fingers crossed)

On the Indian front, I'm going in for a low mileage OHC or Baleno.

Well my next car would take a long long time as the fire in my belly for my Octy is still live.
But still if i hope to dream it could be
a) an automatic sipping diesel small car if i can persuade the wifey to drive (nano if it comes in diesel !)
OR
b) an automatic sipping diesel SUV like the Yeti.
OR
c) Maybe a small BMW i135 coupe for myself (now i am REALLY DREAMING) !!

It is too early for my next car. Bought my wagonR in 2008, wanted to buy the Indigo CS, but had to go for the alternative due to several reasons.

My next car will surely be a TATA, most probably the Safari.
