The size of my parking lot will determine the next car, already have the i10, so whichever vehicle fits the remaining space would be the next and could be Jazz AT (if available), City AT, Scorpio AT or Civic AT in that order. The next, I guess, would be to measure the parking lot

Jazz - 3845 mm
City - 4420 mm
Scorpio - 4495 mm
Civic - 4545 mm

Cars I'd like to buy

1. Fortuner (stretched budget) or

2. Gurkha soft top or

3. Innova or

4. Isuzu crew cab 4x4

Most realistically if I didn't have the company car and had to choose one car its the Innova as a multi purpose family car. Right now any of the above would be an indulgence and most likely lie at home gathering dust 6 days a week!

How come I missed this thread for these many years!

Anyway, I own a Scorpio 2.6 Turbo CRDe 2006 pre-Lotus model. Iam looking for a better riding Diesel xUV but there is none other than the Innova at this moment.

The choices we have are very little.

Captiva VCDi - ride is a bit tough but tad better than Scorpio. Also worried about its resale value and A.S.S.

Innova- test drove two Innovas, both had build quality issues and the owners complained high cost of ownership/spare parts.

Scorpio 2.2 V Series : Yet to test drive one, but I like the fact that they are coil sprung in the rear, light weight engined, better refinement and with slightly improved FE. Looks like a good choice (atleast until the new norm of higher prices for Diesel for cars comes into effect).

Ingenio : Because it supposedly should have better ride quality due to its lower stance, and FE oriented tuning with the mHawk 2.2, it is surely a candidate but will wait atleast a year from its launch. Hope M&M is not a one shot wonder.

Toyota Qualis replacement! : I heard about this somewhere but not sure where exactly. Toyota supposedly building a proper qualis replacement, probably with same D4D 2.5 engine plonked in Innova. If it is true, that is also in my shortlist.

Currently own a Alto and a WagonR-Duo.
Planning on a diesel sedan (mostly Dzire-Diesel) in early 2009 as I drive a good 60 Kms every day and feel that diesel would fit the bill.
Long term would like to own an Innova as I feel it would be a good family car when going out of station.

I was planning to sell my 2005 Getz Petrol and buy a MUV/SUV vehicle this year. Thanks to team-bhp, have decided to not sell the car for now. Next year I might go for a MUV/SUV.

Probable candidates:

Tata Safari 2.2 vtt
Mahindra Scorpio Mhawk vls
Toyota Innova G4 diesel
Mahindra Ingenio
Tata Xover

As of now, my next car is expected in 2010-11 as a replacement for my Oct 2003 Corsa 1.4. Possible replacements: Toyota's AT smaller (City competitor) car or the new City. Perhaps even a Fortuner or like product.

A SUV would be my next vehicle, which could be a few years from now.
Depending on how the Scorp or the Safari has evolved at that period, and considering the other options at the price point, i would decide.

Till then, happy dreaming.
