@ karpusv: - It would be fantastic if you can provide the break up of the diesel and petrol for the models available.

Probably a standard template might help you provide this info.

Vitara, Gypsy and Maruthi's Strategy

I believe Vitara hardly sells, But Gypsy is doing much better - the later one is a surprise to me. Why Maruthi displays the former in the showrooms where we couldn't find the Gypsies? This strategy is strange to me. Anybody can explain this? Thanks.

The sales figures of i20 (predominantly petrol) is really enlightening. The aam junta is happy with a car with a below average engine(only for the segment and considering the weight of the car.) and not good AC if the car looks and feels luxurious.

I guess this is also because of the premium that i20 charges for it's diesel. i20 is not able to justify that premium probably in comparison to other diesels like swift and Figo. i20 Diesel is going the same way as jazz. Extremely high pricing which kills otherwise competent car.

Did fiat sell any of the 90HPs at all ? A good car but overpriced like Jazz. They have bring it down to a realistic price else it will end up as a "has been" soon.

Are you talking about Palio.?

The Punto 90 Hp will reflect in August 2010 sales. It was launched at the end of July and deliveries would have started only from august.

I will have to disagree with the 'overpriced' part though. It is good value for money in fact. The i20 crdi is a little overpriced (thanks to its imported engine)

My bad, i got it wrong.

I will keep an eye on the Aug'10 figures, which would be primary sales figures ( company to dealers).

The Gypsy is a special purpose vehicle that caters to a very unique segment of the market. When was the last time you saw an advert for this 4x4? Gypsy customers know what they want and will buy it, independent of promotional activities.

The Grand Vitara, on the other hand, is Maruti's most expensive product in a price band that the brand has miserably failed to crack. By parking the GV in showrooms, Maruti hopes it will raise the aspirational value & image....and believe it or not, make the showroom look upmarket!

Here is the details of Sales figure of MSIL. Maruti -Suzuki has again clocked highest ever sales in the month of August 2010.

Total vehicles sold by MSIL stands at 104791 including exports.

It will be interseting to see if MSIL can sustain this momentum, specially during the upcoming Festival period, when the sales touch the peak.

Hello,

The Pdf talks about July 2010 sales and not that of August 2010. You need to check the attachments again before you post.

With MSIL's figures alone comparisons are not possible. Is it not?

Thank you Ram_NP

These are wonderful numbers from Maruti Suzuki, reaffirming that it is the most trusted auto brand in India.

Hope others companies have similar stories (numbers) to tell.

Guys, please continue all August related sales discussions here. Once the information from all manufacturers has been received, I will be compiling a full blown sales analysis in a new August 2010 thread.
