Ranking of hatchbacks in India Based on looks.

1. Micra (The old generation was even more funky)
2. i10 (Older design but still fresh on the roads, I can't imagine how the next version of i10 is going to beat this)
3. Hyundai i20
4. Ford Figo/Fusion (Figo's design is already almost seen in Fusion)
5. Jazz (Better front look, though the look from the side wise is not amazing)
6. Wagon R (Newer version is lot better, hats off to Maruthi)
7. Skoda Fabia (miniature design of Laura from the front, view from the rear is very good)
8. Swift (Its getting old, and the next generation has no big difference in the outer view)
9. Punto (Many like this, But its front look is odd to me, and the back has no look at all)
9. Polo (I do not see anything modern)
10. Palio ( I didn't forget this, I liked its pre 2007 design very much)
11. Tata Indica Vista (Its Indian, need improvement in the front view)
12. Santro (The oldest, need replacement)

Never in my list:
Maruti Ritz
Tata Indica Chevrolet Beat
Chevrolet Aveo UVA
Alto
Estilio

Not in my list: (They are out of my reach)
Fiat 500, Beatle and so called luxury hatches.

For me the above ranking by agbenny would be almost turned upside down, with the only changes being Vista going down below Jazz and Wagon R at the bottom of the list and Punto on Top. Hehehe...to each his own!!

A poll would definitely help - multiple choices not required. 'Best looking hatch' poll itself would give the ranking of the popular perception in the forum

I would classify the design / looks in different categories and my favourites in them would be as follows:--
1) Futuristic looks :
1. Beat ( I like the front and side profiles more than the rear one )
2. Jazz ( Prefer the side and rear profile looks than the front one )
3. SRV ( More for its side and rear profiles)

2) Proportionate looks :
1. Punto ( Well balanced design,pleasant to look from all profiles )
2. i20 ( Well balanced but not so exiting )

3) Contemporary looks :
1. Swift ( Fresh and different design approach )
2. Vista ( Front and side profiles are better than the rear )
3. A star ( The head lights and side profile add to the looks )
4. Micra ( Font profile is the best )
5. Nano ( Front profile more eye-catching than the rear )
6. Estilo ( Pre face-lift ) ( I prefer the front and the side profile more )

You get the Fiat 500 - that would actually be #1 for me. But at 18 lakhs - I don't think it should be used for comparison.

My definition of great looks is the following

" Car which when passes prompt me to look in to my rear/side view mirror to get one more glance irrespective of the traffic conditions OR the car when it appear in my rear view mirror make me to slowdown to have a clear view".
