If the Skoda Octavia vRS Combi can be considered a hatch, that is number one! But I guess that's an estate.

can we probably rate only the best and the worst... the rest would very subjective, and wouldnt matter.

here's my take:

BEST - Punto (with alloys)
Worst - chevy beat...

1. i20 & punto (just couldn't firm up on which looks better)
3. Palio (Somehow the italians always have a knack of getting good designs)
4. Swift

Bottom:
1. Ritz (Whatever said and done the rear really puts you off)

It's rather surprising that not many have even considered the Honda Jazz (which incidentally happens to be a damn good looking hatch IMO).

However, this would be my list:
