could anybody help me on how to buy a set of hood and boot emblems for my w201 mercedes? I live in agra so my best bet is either from the delhi dealer or if anybody has got some off the internet before, help with that would be appreciated!

Order online (ebay etc) or then if you do go to Delhi you can get it from the car market, dealership would be costlier.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Forget the logo someone stole my side mirror(left hand side) when it was parked at hospital in Chennai. I was shocked to see one of the side mirror was missing. I found out from a colleague of mine that one tap from behind will release the mirror and it's easy to remove.

Btw my RTR logo keeps missing every time and I buy a new one. Finally I've given up on replacing it with new logo.

Just to add some humor to this thread. Here is an interesting innovation I came across today. The poor owner has done an excellent job and only some irregularity at the joints gave him away .

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Evidently, this appears to be a bigger racket. The children are used as pawns to supply these logos to the middlemen/ Chor Bazaar people. Using children as pawns does not invite suspicion. They just walk around the car, do their job and vanish. The car owner is left fuming.

This is a news clipping that appeared earlier this August 2013, in The Hitavada, Nagpur, about the nabbing of some such juvenile thieves.

The scenario is similar in many other cities where the moment we move , we find cars moving on the streets without logos.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

I recently became a victim of the logo theft. Had left my Skoda Rapid outside my house in bangalore, like I usually do and had gone out of town for two days. Return and find the rear logo missing..

Will mostly be ordering from Ebay. Not sure if Skoda Bangalore is offering a free replacement anymore.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Why don't the manufacturers design something like the logos/decals are screwed/bolted from inside too, so that it can't be easily removed without breaking the logo? Atleast the expensive brands should resort to something like that.Just using double-sided tape for all logos only makes things easier for these thieves.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

My Honda City front grille logo was picked off my car ,even when the car was in the society parking
It is fixed using screws and still someone spent the time to unscrew the same of my car ... I cannot think of the reasons why someone would do this .
Where can I get a new one now?

The Honda logos are not very expensive, even at the dealership.

Any idea how much a Ford logo costs for the Classic? The A*S*S is quoting 2k for just one logo!

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

I've seen this happen only in a few cities, mostly in Mumbai, followed by Pune and Bangalore. Surprisingly, in my last 3 years in Hyderabad, I've seen only 1 car with a stolen logo! And Hyderabad is known for its supercars!

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

Hi there, I agree that such type of vandalism of any car does leave the owner with heart burns and be it new or a old vehicle unnecessary expense is never good. So, Probably you all may find it funny to a great extent but I feel debadging the car is good solution to this problem. Plus, it does make the car look good.

Here is a pic of my car with all emblems removed except "H" logo.

Also, would like to suggest a small thing, Do try to stay away from the illuminated car logos like that of Suzuki, Chevrolet and Honda as they are at a bigger risk of attracting unwanted attention and secondly, they are more costly than the OEM logos.

Thanks.

Re: Car logo theft / monograms stolen in India

I'm surprised to see the photo posted by drmohitg showing a VW Polowith what looks like a DIY logo..I thought Polo had an advantage in this area due to the fact that the logo in front is 'integrated' with the bonnet and the one on the rear was the boot switch..so stealing would firstly not make much sense (since installation could likely be preferred only at a dealer - hence no market) and secondly too time consuming.
