Re: Im-Ports & Ex-Ports (Sightings inside ports)

A lot of car manufacturers import the CKD kits. Have you ever encountered them? If yes is it possible to post some pics of the Kits if they are open?
I m sure they will be in a box, but just curious. I always wondered how the cars come knocked down in India and then completely assembled here.

Thanks a lot for sharing these pics.

This is a VOLVO unit.
In fact only one such unit was parked among all those MAN trucks.
The importers are JCBL. presume that those big transparent pipes are for the A/C unit.
The pic is taken from rear side as the front side has security post next to it.

@himavanth: I try to take pics of all interesting vehicles, as & when convenient. Pls do note that photography inside port limits is prohibited.

The mudflap on the chassis clearly says "Volvo". It is one of those CKD kits that have been imported.

I completely understand your restrictions. It was just out of curiosity that I have asked.

Photography inside port is BANNED. Due to my nature of work I had special permissions till some time ago. Now the application for renewal is lying with circle police station from last one year with no hope, so far. We can take photos secretly but then putting them on public forum may cause issues.

The last pics I recall we're of Metro train bogies that was used by press also.

Caution: GRAPHIC pictures. See at your own risk.

So you are planning to buy a 4 Crore RR Ghost or for that reason, Porsche Cayenne or Merc S-Class for near a Crore.
Make sure it has NOT spent unknown length of time hibernating in Mumbai port.

Re: Im-Ports & Ex-Ports (Sightings inside ports)

Surprising and shocking pics those. I am surprsied to see a Ghost and new Cayenne's in this condition. other cars in the pic, an old CRV with very cheap looking wheels and a Golf Wagon, all seem to be older models.

Hey Sonu, I am a Marine Surveyor and my sun sign is Aries too. Been a Surveyor for about 25 years now. Had inspected the Bofors Gun at Mumbai port in 1989-90 and also the Aircraft carrier Vikrant and her jets too. Some nostalgic memories there Good to see a fellow professional here at T-BHP
