I am dealing with both the dealers as I wanted to TD all engines and Asset does not have a 1.9 PD for TD.

I got a call from Europa auto: Octavia and Superb are for sure getting the new CR engines. Laura too might get but he was not sure when.
I told him that I am ready to wait and asked him to give me confirmed information. Will update when i get more info.

ACI has confirmed the Jetta is getting the 139 bhp Common rail diesel from the Passat.

The same engine will also be offered in Skoda cars as well. Link to the Skoda thread:http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...el-engine.html

Alto99, the PD still in service in the Uk is probably an upgraded version which meets the pollution norms.

From Autocar India web site:

VW will replace the 1.9-litre 105bhp Pumpe-düse (PD) motors which, though reliable and frugal, were a touch too noisy and felt a generation behind. The company had the option to introduce the 2-litre 140bhp PD which can be upgraded to Stage IV more easily. However, VW in a surprise move has plonked the refined and frugal 16-valve 2.0 common-rail turbo diesel engine in the Jetta.

Thanks for the update.
I would say good move especially since all Lauras and Jetta trims will get this 140 bhp engine unlike earlier.

Called the VW dealer here. Salesperson feigned ignorance of any changes and said he'll check and revert.

He called the next day and denied any chance of an engine change in the Jetta. In fact he went ahead and said that the current engine is BSIV compliant.

All he would concede is that the Passat would come soon with a 2L petrol

Oh and absolutely no discounts of any sorts in March.

Called the VW Pune dealer today. The Jetta is getting the new 2.0 Common rail. No specs available yet. Manual only. Price ~19lacs. No minor facelift. NO TRIM CHANGES EITHER. Passat gets the 1.8TSI.
So basically huge price hike, no DSG, slightly better engine. VW FAIL!!!

Got a call from the sales guy at the VW dealership. Prices announced for the Jetta, 2.0CRD manual gearboxes only. No automatics. Base goes at 14.28L ex- showroom Kochi, Comfortline at 15.95L. Booking amount 1 lac, going to book one tomorrow. Car should be coming sometime in April.

Really missing a German car, and eagerly awaiting the Jetta! And really missed the Comfortline trim on the earlier version, as it was available only on the DSG. But it'll be sad to let the Verna go.

BTW, the dealership guy is most helpful, judging by initial response. Even offered to travel 30+ km just to pick up the advance cheque. Looking forward to a good dealership experience.
