The commercial is being aired on business channels regularly - on CNBC-TV18, NDTV-Profit and ET-Now. It just doesn't catch you. When it starts, you expect for the big bang, but it fizzles out directionless. I am not impressed. The previous Outlander ad, with landscapes dropping down in front of the car looked better.

The looks are not as impressive in photos as it is in videos. Take a look at this video and you will see the difference.

I personally think its a brilliant marketing move by HM. Think about it : The Outlander's target market is the urban type. He / she better be loaded, what with the 20 lakh rupee price tag + thirsty petrol engine. It's the kind of SUV that appeals to yuppies. And this segment is exactly where a designer like Rohit Bal has a super following (i.e. existing + hopeful customers, both).

I dont understand why Mitsu will advertise this car on a daily basis? the # of ads surpass the # of units that move out of their showrooms!

Why cant they promote their current sedans to get some decent volumes or show case Exo as a teaser!

Is the Outlander still on sale in India? The site (http://www.outlander.in/) seems to be down for ages now.

Re: New 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Facelift launched

That website was created only initially then subsiquently it was merged with the main website that is www.mitsubishi-motors.co.in , where it is still displayed as a part of Mitsubishi's Indian model range and you can also request for a test drive. When I tried that link , two dealers called up (there are only two in NCR reigion) and both of them told that its no longer availible. On asking that why was it displayed on the website , they had no answer but one of them said that may be it is to attract prospective customers for the pajero sport.
Then they started arguing that why don't I try the pajero sport as its a diesel and my reason for requiring a petrol automatic for city use fell on deaf ears.

Re: New 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Facelift launched

Mitsubishi might lauch the updated version of Outlander in 2017. Some dealers have started accepting bookings as well. Single variant, petrol only, fully imported. Mitsubishi what are you smoking?

Quote:
The front gets a very intricate grille design, which Mitsubishi calls ‘Dynamic Shield’; it gives the crossover quite a lot of presence. It is laden with brushed aluminium and chrome, including a vertical chrome frame on either side. The headlights are LED projector units with separate LED daytime running modules. Moving on to the sides, the Outlander has a more wagon-like profile with mild cladding around the base, a silver strip on the bottom of the doors and smart 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there’s a large but simply-styled tailgate, with subtle chrome accents surrounding the horizontally-positioned LED tail-lamps.

Measuring 4,695mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,710mm high, the Outlander has a similar footprint to a Pajero Sport (although it’s much lower), but is longer than five-seat crossovers like the Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V. For India, Mitsubishi will sell the Outlander in a single variant with seven seats. Like the Tucson and CR-V, the Outlander uses a more space-efficient monocoque construction that allows for better interior space and more car-like driving dynamics, compared to a ladder-frame SUV like the Pajero Sport.

Under the hood, the India-bound Outlander will come with a single engine option – the tried and tested 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol motor (Code: 4J12) that delivers 169hp and 225Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a six-step CVT gearbox, and will get Mitsubishi’s latest Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) AWD system with an Active Front Differential and a number of selectable driving modes.

There is no official confirmation from the company about the India launch as of now, but dealers in some cities have started accepting bookings. Deliveries are likely to begin around September this year, with dealers quoting an ex-showroom price of around Rs 29 lakh. This places it squarely between five-seaters like the CR-V, Tucson and the upcoming Jeep Compass SUV, and seven-seaters like the Hyundai Santa Fe and upcoming Skoda Kodiaq.

At this price, the fully imported Outlander will slot in just above the locally assembled Pajero Sport (Rs 27.4 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi). Some might consider this a bit too much of a risk, considering the sole petrol engine option and relatively high price, not to mention Mitsubishi’s weak aftersales network. But with more buyers opting for petrol cars, and the Outlander’s easy-to-drive yet practical nature, perhaps there is a market for it yet.

Re: New 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Facelift launched

The autocarindia .com article says ex-showroom price of 71 Lakhs since it is a CBU. I think the grim reaper is heading for the Mitsubishi India office from the Chevy India Office. Atleast Chevy can keep the factory lights on with export orders. Mitsubishi India is a dead duck.

Re: New 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander Facelift launched

Hi, bumping an old thread.

Am looking for a pre-owned Outlander. HR or DL registered. 2012 or newer. I couldn't find an appropriate thread to post this in or a place in the classifieds section for "wanted" cars. Any leads would be great.

P.S. I've already tried most of the popular online portals and braved several Karol Bagh/Lajpat Nagar type dealers.
