I think if it priced well then it will be a success. I really hope that they will launch it here with a different name and not Duster as it sounds little weird. Otherwise shape of it is good.

They just want something that works and doesn’t cost a fortune while it does so. That is why, outside the large cities you hardly ever see an upmarket badge or a luxury 4X4. (Unlike the UK, where the opposite is true)

I hear that the Duster will be built at Dacia’s Pitesti plant in Romania, and will go on sale in Europe from spring 2010, with prices starting under €15,000 (around £13,500)
This Dacia - a kind of spiritual successor to the Lada Niva of distant memory is simply a no-frills vehicle that will appeal to anyone who lives in remote or mountainous areas owing to it ‘s ground clearance and availability of all wheel drive.
Exactly my thoughts as I first posted this. We have come from behind the Romanians to (slightly?) ahead of them, we atleast deserve what they get!!! On a serious note, this product is almost perfect for India. They would'nt have to work on anything other an doing the L2R hand conversion, and even that would have been done if this thing sells in the UK! (haven't checked).

Nice to see that this thread finally woke up from hibernation..

They are supposed to launch it in mid 2011 for 7-8L ex showroom price. That will surely wake up M&M from its sleep as at the moment there is no major competition to the Scorpio in this price range. The design is weird but it grows on you and honestly I feel its quite butch now after ogling at the Duster for more than 8 months now

My thoughts the same too dude. Hope they get it. They should, if nothing else to get even with Mahindra after their alliance went bust

WOW that thing looks hott in black, im sure it will be a looker in white as well. The looks might not be to everyones taste but I like it. a non 4x4 top of the line for OTR 8L would be awesome.... only if wishes were horses. An end of this year launch would be awesome, but I doubt it. Not before the first quarter 2011.

Hopefully they will launch it with the 110ps version of the 1.5 dci engine, at 86ps it feels a tad underpowered for an SUV.

Some more pics of the Duster.

The Duster is really small by normal SUV standards. In fact its dimensions are comparable with most big hatches! So I don't think the relatively small 86PS 1.5L mill should pose that big a problem.

This is positive news if the report holds true. Even in CKD form, Renault should look to price the Duster competitively. One only needs to look at the example of the Hyundai Tucson, of how a good SUV was let down by its high sticker price.

The 1.5dci is a frugal unit. Why launch in 86PS tune? Bring on the 110PS version!

The interiors are yuck for a 8 lakh rupee car which Renault intends to price it at.
