Certainly Fiat Engine, after the govt duty cut. This has become our national engine, it has been fitted in so many brands & models that it actually amazes me by the diversity in performance each company has got out of it.

Swift
Ritz
Swift Dzire
Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet
Fiat Linea
Fiat Punto
Fiat Palio Style

I doubt all these engines are introduced in year 2009. But if that's not a criteria, there is absolutely no doubt that it is the Fiat 1.3 MJD. Show another engine which is so widely used in many cars from several brands.

If you want to select an engine by installed base, I nominate the engine in the Nano or the one in the Bajaj Autos.

The Fiat 1.3 wasn't launched in 2009 but was a significant engine in this year with so many new cars sharing it!

The ANHC mill is also a 2009 release, isn't it?

Also how are the 2.4 Mivec in the Outlander; the 2.4 in the new GV; the Accord's V6?

Maybe the poll should go by segment/capacity/type?

1.3 mjd has been in use since 2007. So i don't think it qualifies here.

i would have voted for maruti's 1.2 engine. but its not available in poll. till then i would prefer 1.4 crdi of hyundai. Awesome engine in city and highway.
